I dont think theres anything wrong with it - but not certain. Did you get that little pamphlet that had all the unsafe food listed in it?

well I LIVED on just juice in the hospital (and in the last 4 weeks of being pregnant) and Arna's poo's were extremely runny and she screamed everytime she filled her nappy cause it stung. Its to do with the Acidicy (sp?) of it.
Was told afterwards that OJ is a no no - this is after the Just Juice was in full view @ the hospital and I was drinking it in front of nurses etc...

i guess if you are really worried about something just ask your midwife. If you really want the juice and are worried about the acidity maybe try watering it down with water or abit of lemonade.
Anyway hope you get the juice thing sorted

This might sound just a little wierd, but I usually have my OJ mixed with a bit of Sprite or 7Up !

i think some babies are more sensitive to OJ than others cause I drunk OJ and Jake was fine...I didn't drink too much though. BTW Lissel, mum was reading my pamphlet on food safety and said "gosh isn't it strange you're being told not to eat any of this, but when i was pregnant we could pretty much eat anything, and you turned out okay!!!"

Liz you are cracking me up today - think it's cause I've just got out of bed for the 3rd time this morning (130am, 6am and 730am!)
Anyway when I say I lived on Just Juice I'm not exaggerating!! I had abuot 2 - 3 litres A DAY of Just Juice and about 3 litres after arna was born ... Oops.
That was an expensive couple of weeks!! Just Juice is about $5 a pop!! oops.
I rekon in moderation...

Ummmm Just to freak you out Lissel
Question: I read in article that 'papaya & pineapple' contain high enzymes - so that should be avoided during pregnancy. Is this also true for cashews & cantaloupe?
Ans: It is believed that raw papaya and pineapple can induce abortion due to the enzymes it contains. But there is no scientific evidence to support this belief. Cashews and cantaloupe are safe to be consumed during pregnancy.

Aw jeez, all the things we are not allowed just drive me crazy! I've been knocking back the oj like it's going out of fashion, and I've been craving fruit madly - fresh pineapple included. Have also had quite a few cheese and pineapple toasties..... Gosh, just realised I've had fresh papaya and lime juice a couple of times..... And what is a cantaloupe??

aw well thats just fantabluous!!!
lol
btw Liz, a woman i work with told me about how she pretty much ate anything with her kids and theyre fine young people and when i have a coffee (weak of course lol) she and another mother say, "you'd be better off having a glass of red wine a day rather than that" and im like HELLO its alcohol?!?!?! the younger mother has a wee 6 month old and said her midwife TOLD her to have a glass of red wine a day... WHAT THA?!?! think ive posted that in an earlier post.
I asked my midwife about what i should and shouldnt be having and she just said everything in moderation but NO ALCOHOL

Lissel, don't worry about drinking orange juice... I'm sure it's fine! Maybe not 3 litres a day like Lena tho
And don't buy too much into the inducing abortion thing if it says that there is no scientific evidence. I'm sure there are a million things that can induce abortion if you are going to go that far.
But yeah... at the same time, like Lena said, OJ can cause acidic poos when babe is here... so can tomatoes and strawberries etc... worry about that when you get through the pregnancy thing tho

Oh for pina coladas in the pool Lizzle...
Pineapple juice is good for after pains after baby is born, but I never heard about it not being safe in pregnancy. I have done no research and have no evidence on that tho...
I lived on capsicum when I was carrying Maya. And juice for the first few weeks then I went right off it.

i drink heaps of orange juice too - i had to cut down when ayja was little but now is ok. everything in moderation is usually the key - i mean there are things that are unsafe, but most other things you just have to be sensible about. I think in pregnancy with the OJ, if you aren't having anough water to equal it it can be bad cos it's got alot of natural sugars etc... you gotta have lots of water to drink too, but oj is good to have with meals and stuff to help you absorb the iron from it - always chased my iron tabs down with ta huge glass of it too.

Ooooh, you are very close Sonja! I agree with Janine, everything in moderation. And I thought that food wise, you just had to be most careful in the first trimester when baby is developing not just growing.

On another forum I was on, some women were advising eating fresh pineapple to bring on labour if you are overdue. Has anyone heard of that? I'm 2 days overdue

I think when you are overdue EVERYONE has ideas about bringing it on. I tried EVERYTHING!!! And if you are overdue - try it! I DO NOT recommend castor oil though....foul stuff.

I was told to bring labour on to walk up a steep hill. As we don't have any hills over here I went on the stepper at the gym and my waters broke that night - I wasn't expecting it to work that quickly as I was two weeks from my due date and had been to the Doctor's the day before and Zac wasn't even engaged!
