ARGH!! Ages ago there was a documentry on TV over here called 'Bringing up baby' and it had all these different parenting methods on it. It was pretty controversial at the time and I watched it religiously each week. I went to the channel forums and we talked about the different methods and discussed the broadcaster and their moral responsability when shows involve children vs sensational TV.

The channel contacted me and said that they had looked at my opinions on the forum and that they are shooting a live debate focusing on the involvement of under 5's in TV shows like Supernanny, Bringing Up Baby and The House of Tiny Tearaways and they want me to be there to take part in the debate. I had to call a guy at the channel and we talked about what it will involve and my opinions and I have to go to the studio tomorrow to shoot the show.

I am so nervous/freaked out I'm wondering what on earth I have got myself into. What if I make a total a** of myself- I am terrible with nerves and was a wreck even doing my class speeches at high school!!!!

Um both really- I think that they were incredibly interesting and educational but I also thought that some of the ways things were portrayed were very irresponsible. Not enough education behind alot of the statements and not enough support for the children and their families.
I know that their aim is ratings and keeping the shareholders happy but when your featuring children in shows then they have a moral obligation to do the absolute best by them. Children don't have a choice about being on TV and often the parents are clueless so its the channels responsibility to not take advantage of that.

Thanks guys So nervous! I'll just have to come up with a few ideas that I want to get across and stick to those rather than thinking on the spot- then I will just start to waffle (as I am definitely prone to doing).

Bring on the rescue remedy!

I'll get DH to tape it and if I'm any good then I post it on youtube and do a link here- if I suck then I'll burn the thing
