I am so not impressed at all with the situation either.

Last I went for my usual walk (I went by Janine's place to drop some stuff back off to her) and got home and decided that I would clean up a bit from dinner. So I took the tray of Josh's highchair and put the highchair away and then went to take the tray outside to clean it off and give the scraps to my compost. I slipped down the steps outside and snapped my ankle. Instant tears  and swearing  (thank god one child was in bed and the other in the shower) at DH to get me back inside. He thinks i've just hurt it a little and carries me inside and gets my shoes off to see that it is already twice the size bruised and causing me a lot of pain. He gets the ice and does that for 20 minutes nothing has changed other than the swelling is going up my leg

DH rings his mum to see if she can come around to look after the boys while we go to the dr. She comes around we leave and I see a dr at our dr's place. Who tells me that I can't get an x ray till today,  but wants it in a cast overnight just in case it is broken. Tells me to take pain killers (to which I just as for a script for anti nausea stuff so I can take Tramedol) and I get my leg in plaster and get a set of crutches to use.

I rang my parents in Oz last night at 11 and my dad laughs at me (usual thing for him to do) and my mum was thinking about my weight loss and what would happen now (don't worry I have already thought of that as well).

Now i'm just waiting to go back to the dr's to get the cast off, have a xray to see what damage I have done. Positive thoughts are I haven't broken it but the pain is still there so i'm not sure what is going on in there.

So now all my plans are out the window, if it's broken I can't come down to Wellington for dinner (something i'm going to be really angry  at myself for). I can't drive coz its my right ankle i've done.
But one good thing at least it gets me out of marching in the Feilding xmas parade (not that I was going to march anyway ), but i'm not sure about the rest of the xmas things we have left to do.

So have a laugh and feel sorry for me at the same time...

oh and my SS now would be a great time for a present to make me feel better

Hi Becks. You probably already have an idea but my guess is that you have broken your ankle. Sucky to have a cast on at this time of year! It will be 6 weeks for an 'easy' kind of break like leg or foot fracture, but 8 weeks for an ankle break. Ring ACC as soon as you can to get onto them for tons of home help etc.

What help do you need in the meantime? I could come by tomorrow or maybe even tonight.... PM me!

PS Don't worry about the weight loss. You can't snack easily and your upper torso is having a crutches workout!

Its not broken which is great. Pulled all the ligaments and tendons in my ankle/foot. So i'm on crutches for a few weeks, I have to rest and have my foot up. Its bandaged and will be for a while. And as soon as I can put weight on it i'm off to physio so I can get it all healed before DH leaves me next month.

LOL, Liz!

I'm glad it's not broken after all, Becks - still sound like a right mish though, putting your foot up while you've got 2 little ones to run around after.  Are they sending you any home help?  Can DH get any time off?

Ouch! Tendons etc. hurt more than breaking a bone (I've done both several times), you poort thing! But they heal faster and you don't have a wear a cast. Hooray! Hope you get a good physio and are back on your feet quickly.

Still on crutches will be for a while I think. My foot does random swelling as in I had ben sitting (well laying down asleep) for a few hours and my foot was still completly swollen and hurts from the swelling. I saw my dr today who I told off for laughing at me when I finally made it into his room. he has asked ACC for homehelp for 10 days as DH has he own stuff he has to sort out for the army next year. Hopefully I can get an assessor to me tomorrow. I start physio on Thursday so hopefully that can help the recovery as I am itching to get off the crutches and back walking by myself.
