Elle has had a cold for a week now. She seems to be getting worse day by day...her nose is like a tap, she has a really phlegmy cough and I think she has a bit of a temp as she feels very hot (dunno as our termometre takes an age to read the temp and Elle won't tolerate it under her arm for long enough). She won't take pamol but we managed to get some fenpead in by hiding it in juice. She is happy enough when playing but definatelty seems very unwell. I figure it needs to run its course but should I take her to see the doc just in case?? ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

I would personally take her to get checked just because it has hung on for a while. Just say to the Dr that its been a week and its still getting worse....you just never know what is lurking around. Remember we had lunch the day I left well the next morning Alize woke up with grizzly so off to the GP to be told he had severe infection of tonsilis and needed 10days of AB's... so he had it prob nearly the whole time we were there. So Fiona it really is just a case of getting her checked and hoping to be tld its just viral and continue what your doing. Let us know how it goes.

Jack had a cold that lingered, then he got a cough and was obviously coughing up stuff. We took him to get checked out and it turned out he had a lower respiratory tract infection, if left would most likely turned into pneumonia. Go with your gut, we felt a bit silly (we were at the hospital), but Jack just wasn't himself so even though he seemed happy enough to the staff, we knew there was something up. ------------- ">

Yeah Elle is coughing stuff up too. I keep having to change her sheet after her naps as she spills yucky stuff. I guess there is no harm in popping past the doc. The ones around us charge $10 on the weekends which makes me grumpy as often all they do is take 5 secs to look in her ears, say shes fine and we are out again in less than 3 minutes! ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

You could take her to the hospital, but there will most likely be a wait, we were there 4 hours on Sunday night. Make them listen to her chest, Jack you could hear he was raspy when he was breathing as well. In hindsight, we should have dealt with it earlier.
We took him for a followup on Friday and it is getting better, but my doctor thinks it started from an eye infection we had been to see her a few weeks for. ------------- ">

Fiona I know the costs seems rough on the weekends but I pay $20 weekends and $10 weekdays and at the end of the day you are paying for Elles health and that is all that matters and the expertise of the Dr to diagnose and treat if needed ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Oh no! Sorry! I didn't mean I didn't want to pay it! Whoopsy. I'm very very very happy to pay it for peace of mind...it's not an issue at all. I just think it's rude when your in and out in under 3mins and still get charged :) ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

I took Brooke to the doctor with pretty much every cold (just in case) until she could talk really well and tell me what was wrong. A couple of times they picked up on ear infections etc when I thought she seemed ok. You can always say you don't want antibiotics. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

 LOL Kels now you're just being sarcastic!
We went to the doc and it cost $11 this time 
Elle now has dimatap + saline drops. She also has an ear infection but we are waiting 48 hours to see how she goes before giving antibiotics. She onlt started fiddling with her ear today so it's probably just flared up. Her chest is fine...the rattles are due to the mucous from her nose dripping down (  )
