Hi,
I was just looking for other peoples experiences / knowledge about theme park rides. Are they safe, and all the messages etc are precautions, or is it an absolute no no to go on the rides? Thanks for all your help :)

I went to the Goldcoast when I was 5 months pregnant. All of the rides had signs saying you couldn't go on them if you were pregnant. I didn't think it was worth the risk going on rollar coasters, but went on tame rides like the Ferris wheel! Didn't make for a very exciting day, lol!

If it were me I'd listen to the rules of the ride.
I haven't heard of any damage being done to unborn babies on these rides - there's bound to be cases of it.
But I think it's mainly for the security of the theme park. They don't wanna be held accountable for early labour/miscarriage etc.
Plus for safety reasons - yourself and the park.

We went to the Gold Coast for our honeymoon and we had a suspicion I "might" be pregnant, so I avoided all the rides at the theme parks just in case! Definately would avoid going on the rides if you know you are pregnant!

Turns out I was two weeks preggars at the time!

I have just been to auckland and took my daughter to rainbows end. i told them i was pregnant and asked which rides were safe and they told me that unfortunately i was not allowed on anything at all and they would only give me a spectator pass. i was really upset as i couldnt even go on even the baby rides with her!!! i was expecting perhaps the dodgems and the rollercoaster wouldnt be ok but surely the kiddies ones?!

I went to the GC when I was 16 weeks with the gremlins, and I just used my discretion. The Bermuda triangle for example says not safe during pregnancy but having been on it before I knew it would be fine, but I wasn't about to do any rollercoasters or anything too exciting. In fact the most exciting part was that coz Maya was only 2 I had to accompany her on the kids rides and there is just not enough room on them for me + a gremlin bump!

Thanks for all your help, I think I will just steer clear of the fast rides, and maybe just go on the nice soft ones.........

I worked at Rainbows End for 6 years and it is due to osh regulations that you cant be allowed onto the rides while pregnant because if something happened to your baby and the staff had let you on the ride they would get in serious trouble. Its just not worth the risk at all. The only thing we would let pregnant women do is minigolf

I think that, aside from the G forces which aren't meant to be good for baby, the biggest issue would be the harnesses. The staff all give them an almighty shove just before the ride starts, and some are damn tight to begin with. That's gotta hurt!!

I lived on the Gold Coast for a couple of years, and had annual passes (yippee!!) but I wouldn't go on the rides if I was preggers.
