I thought it was about time I ventured in here especially since Liam is a week old already

Another photo of Mac would be nice Peanut. I'm sure he's changed a lot since we last saw him.

I'm hoping the growth spurt Liam seemed to go through last night doesn't last until tonight. DH & I are exhausted & my nipples are raw (sorry TMI) . But all in all, it's going really well & we're loving having our little man at home with us.

Don't worry Topsy - I keep getting told by everyone that it will probably change - and that babies that sleep badly in the beginning sleep better later on.

I read about your bfing woes though - I hope things get better for you and I totally hear you on the pain thing! Can't wait until it stops hurting so much.

Bobbie, Rowan is adorable & has such fair hair

I hope you ladies are getting a little more sleep. I am exhausted too but I'm not very good at making myself have an afternoon nap. It's a little difficult b/c my parents are holidaying in Akld & Mum especially is very keen to spend lots of time with her first grandson. Maybe I'll send them all out for a walk this afternoon.

We took Liam on his first ferry ride a couple of days ago. He promptly started bawling as soon as the ferry departed. I had to laugh but DH was not too impressed (he's in the navy & loves all things nautical). .

Topsy, is Bella still feeding every 2 hours? I am currently feeding when Liam lets me know he wants it rather than sticking to a rigid timetable. It's usually every 3-4 hours or so. Although he has slept for a couple of 6 hour stretches overnight... I wouldn't have left him that long but we were sound asleep & I forget to set the alarm. Oops.

How is everyone else going?

Bobbie, Rowan is such a cutie! And a real blondie! I thought Bella would have been a fair skinned blondie because I am but she is an olive skinned brown hair girl- taken after her father obviously.

Bella feeds every 3hrs(sometimes 2 hourly). MW has just weighed her and she is now 7lb! She put on double the expected weight gain- what a fatty! So, it seems that all the hard work is paying off.

Liam sounds like he is a good sleeper Sally. You lucky thing! MW also said that now she has reached 7lb that she may start sleeping longer and feeding better. Heres hoping!

I hope you all enjoyed your first xmas with your bubbies

We are having a rather rough time here as both Noah & Lola have reflux so a lot to screaming and crying in our household, we have been to the Dr 4 times and are currently on Losec, thickend formula and have a back up supply of gavison if the other 2 don't work.

opps gotta go someone is crying will post more later

Oh Floss poor you! I have a friend who has a daughter with reflux and it's not easy at all! I can't imagine having twins with it. The good news is it does get better. Hang in there!

Topsy that's great news - you must be stoked that the 2hour feeds are actually paying their dues.

We have to feed Rowan every 3 hours until she hits the 3kg mark but sometimes (like tonight) she cluster feeds hourly for 3 hours or so. Her sleeping is generally pretty good but we find she gets unsettled if we take her out too long. I have a suspicion she would sleep at night for a 5 hour stretch if we let her (she went for 4 hours once when we forgot to set the alarm ) so I'm hanging out for that weight gain.

Sally I'm terrible at napping in the day but I'm forcing myself to because I had one bad night and it was just so hard on me that I don't want a repeat of that. I think sending your parents out to walk Liam is a good plan to get some time out.

Glad to hear all is well with your wee babes. They all seem to be well and gaining weight nicely.

Mac has now hit the 10lb mark. Was weighed today and I find it rather scary that people give birth to babies this size!!

He sleeps for a 5 hour stretch at night but am demand feeding him the rest of the time and it works out to be 2 1/2 or 3 hourly. They say formula feed babies sleep longer but I am still waiting......

I have found that I go back to bed afetr Mac's early morning feed which is usually somewhere between 5 - 6am and get another 2 hours then and that means I can avoid an afternoon nap as don't want to get into the habit and besides, I like going out too much!

Wow thats a great weight gain Peanut! Bella is almost 8lb now She is putting on weight soooo fast....and growing up fast too Time is flying by.

Feeding is slowly improving and I am glad I perservered. Sleeping is another issue though! She likes to keep mummy and daddy awake at night but is an angel during the day.

I have started a Dec thread in the photo section so please go and add some of your beautiful babies pics.

Hope your all doing well and enjoying motherhood!

DH is walking around with her in the Moby wrap at the moment so she'll sleep

Hey all - just popping in to update you with proud (and relieved mummy news). Rowan is now 3.1kgs so I'm allowed to stop the 3 hourly feeds at night
Here's hoping she'll go for 4 or 5 hours by herself.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

That's great news Bobbie, you must be very relieved. I hope she'll sleep a little longer at night for you.

How much did Rowan weigh when she was born? My wee boy was 2.3kg & is now 3.8kg so he clearly doesn't have a problem gaining weight!

We're currently trying to get him to sleep but it's not going too well. The last couple of nights we've been so tired we put him to sleep in our bed just so we could all get some sleep. It's just another thing I said I wouldn't do before he was born but sometimes you'll do anything for some sleep...

How's everyone else going?

Hehe, it must be baby sleeping time cos we are all on the net!

Well done with the weight gain Bobbie. Hopefully you will get the 4-5 hour feeds. Bella is almost 4kg but still needs feeding every 2-3 hours Anyday now I am hoping that she will start to sleep longer. In saying that however, things have definitly improved and feel a little easier- maybe I have just become accustomed to no sleep and a leach constantly attatched to my boobs!

Haha Sally, I too thought "I will never do that" to some things- But when tireness and frustration sets in you will do what you can to get some rest!

Wonder if LL is home yet?
How are the other Dec mums going?
I hope Emz is doing well and cant wait to hear more details.

Does everyone agree that when people say " Oh having a baby and parenting is hard work" think that it is, but also think not to the extent that it actually is? Anyone with twins or other kids is really admired by me as it is really really tough sometimes with just one baby!

All is going well here.

Congrats on the reaching the 3kg mark, Bobbie.

Topsy, I must say that I have found being a mum easier than I thought it was going to be and actually find myself bored at times, although not today when all he did was grizzle and had no sleep!

I also hear you about the things that I would never do that I am now doing. My big thing is a dummy...but it has been a god send at times.

Sally she was 2.5kgs at birth and then dropped to 2.3 in the first week. Wow that's an impressive weight gain! He must be a star feeder!

I know what you mean about doing things just to get some rest - I've had a few naps with her on my chest in bed or next to me in bed just so she'll settle.

Yeah I think because I set myself up for parenting being 'a period of sleepless hell' I've been pleasantly surprised but boy do I feel it when she spills or leaks through her clothes and onto the cot at 3am . We did have a 24 hour period where she vomited, leaked and spilt over 2 sets of bedding and about 5 outfits and 2 wraps and was screaming constantly because of wind - that was pretty unfun but thankfully it's only been a one off so far.

I had a text from LL yesterday & she said she'd gone back to hospital on Sunday as she had a fever & lost a lot of blood. Between that & the torn artery she's really had a rough time of it . Hopefully she'll be home soon & will post some photos.

I just keep reminding myself to laugh when things go "wrong". Like when baby does a big poo seconds after you've changed his nappy & the times when you've taken his nappy off & he hasn't actually finished pooing .

I'm not sure if I think that parenting is hard work but it certainly is a time consuming job. I find it hard these days to get much else done. I know that it'll get better though as I get better

Hiya girls. I am at Mums tonight, I self-discharged myself for the second time this week. I will fill you all in tomorrow. I am about to try my hand at my breast pump to see if I can express (have had a few probs due to being ill etc).

Phoenix is gorgeous, thought I'd share a piccie, I really need to take more. I have a few to upload but running out of time tonight. We are spending the night at his new Nana's, so I could have a spa bath and get some awesome sleep. It has been a really rough ordeal.

Anyways... introducing the lil man himself. PJ.

Cute cute cute!!!

LL, your birth story from the other thread sounds exactly like my birth (apart from the torn artery).

How is sleping going for everyone? I am lucky to get 3hr stints! She is such a hungry bubba and I am finding it a little exhausting. We have decided to move her into her cot and own room today as she is such a noisy baby even in her sleep. She also hits her hands on the side of the bassinnett. She looks tiny in a big cot!!!

We have transferred mac to a bigger basinett in his wn room now and it makes sleeping so much easier. I get about 3 1/2 hours sleep in between feeds so am not finding it to bad.

We are heading away on monday on a wee rd trip for a week followed by a week camping in wanaka so maybe exhausted after that.

Pheonix is cute, what gorgeous dark hair. Mac's hair is starting to recede in the front..making his mohawk so much more noticable.

Phoenix sleeps so much. If I didn't wake him for feeds, he would sleep in forever. I can easily get 4-5 hours in between awake time.

Midwife was over today, she weighed Phoenix and he has only lost 75g since birth. He feeds really well (bottle fed expressed milk) and gets a lil from the breast (we are still learning together).

Yeah Topsy, it was a pretty quick birth. Hellish contractions. I dón't think I even felt tearing, just the pressure from him and bearing down etc.

I sure felt it afterwards though!

What lovely photos LL, he's absolutely gorgoeus. I love his dark hair. Daddy looks pretty proud too . You're lucky getting some much needed sleep - I hope it continues for you.

Liam was weighed today & is now 4.12kg (9lb 2oz) so he's gaining VERY well . The night sleeping thing is still a bit of an issue but hopefully it'll improve soon.

Off to check out your birth story now...

Tara - I feel for you having to go through such an ordeal with the birth etc.

Phoenix is such a wee cutie!

I'm on straight EBM now - Jack's so lazy that he doesn't feed properly off the boob but does really well with a bottle. He's supposed to be sleeping right now (on 3 hourly feeding as opposed to demand as he's too lazy to wake up and slightly jaundice as well) but he's just started grizzling and we need to go out Oh the joys of parenting hehe he's such a gorgeous bubba though, can't stop staring at him.

Date Posted: 11 January 2008 at 4:15pm
Wow Phoenix is soo cute - I love the hair.

Emz 3 hourly feeding is the pits aye? Rowan is on demand feeding at night now but she's decided that 3-4 hours is ok with her . In the daytime I'm still doing 3 hourly feeds and sometimes she's really just not that interested. It does put a damper on going out unless you are all geared up to feed while you're out.

My little girl is giving cloth nappies a try - she was in prefolds yesterday and in a fuzzi today (although it's a bit gapey around the leg so she might have to grow a bit more yet). I spent ages with her on my shoulder yesterday trying to get wind up and I realised how chemical the smell of the huggies is so I decided we might just use those for nighttimes. Overall the cloth seems to be working well despite her small size.

LL lol at the umbilical cord smell - I never thought to smell Rowan's - I'm glad about that now.

Oh we've started to do an EBM feed at around 10pm and I can't believe how much she's packing away - 80mls the other night and 100mls last night

-------------

Posted By: emz
Date Posted: 11 January 2008 at 6:31pm
Jack's doing 60ml per feed and did an 80ml this morning. I was thinking, surely there's no way, but yep DH showed me the bottle and it was empty.

I don't think I'm going to try Jackson back on the boob, after all the trouble trying to get him to latch after he was born (didn't feed until he was about 8 hours old) I think he's got a complex about boob. I don't mind expressing though, as I pump and DH feeds from a previous pump so we tag team it quite well. Am worried about when he goes back to work in a couple of weeks but I kind of figure we'll be in a routine by then.

We're keeping a score now. Currently it's:
DH hit = 4
Me = 2
Wallpaper hit = twice
Floor hit = every time

80mls is pretty impressive for a 4 day old - he'll be growing right before your eyes.

The fuzzis are a success - Changed her before and it was soaking (booster and inner) and a bit dirty but it hadn't leaked at all. Probably won't stand up against the mega-poo but pretty good all the same.

Glad to hear all is well.

Sally, Liam is gaining weight so fast for such a little one when born.

Emz, 80 mls is impressive! Good on you for expressing. One of my friends is doing the same as didn't like the thought of breastfeeding but wanted him to have breast milk. She is managing fine on her own so am sure you will too!

Mac was weighed today and had his imms. Has been a very cuddly wee man today and has now hit the 11lb mark.

LL, he is def very cute.

Best go, he is crying beside me!

Congrats & welcome back Emz. Are there any photos of little Jack anywhere? I'll have to go investigate. It sounds as if things are going pretty well for you. 80mls is very impressive alright. Liam was only having 20ml at that stage I think... (plus whatever he got from boob).

We're having major issues getting Liam to sleep, especially at night. So much so that we've caved & had him sleep in our bed the last few nights. I really am not happy about this but sometimes you'll do anything for a bit of sleep. I'm planning on spending a day at the Plunket Family Centre in the hope that they can help us get into some sort of routine. We can't go on like this for long. I'm lucky in that DH is still off work until the end of the month - he's been a godsend.

PS: Bobbie, we've just started putting Liam in fuzzi's too. So far they seem really good & look so cute. We've been using prefolds too but to be honest I'm finding them a bit of a pain to get on properly. Dh is way better at it than me

Sally, you may not be into dummies but we have found them a godsend in getting Mac to sleep at night. I was so against them but he settles really easily with them and only has them after we have tried other methods to get him to sleep so prob uses them for about 2-3 of his sleeps. Just a thought..... apparently babies suck to sleep so that is way they often fall asleep while feeding...but who would really know.

Am off to bed now but am guessing he will wake very soon for a feed. Whoever said formula fed babies sleep longer was so lying!

Congrats Emz can't wait to see some pics of your little guy!

Tara well done such a cutie!!!!!! Read your birth that sucks how you were treated I would have self discharged as well.

Noah & Lola are doing really well only waking up once a night which is awsome for my sleep!!! We had to take them to the hospital for a check up the other day and they found Noah has a heart murmer so we had to have an ECG scan and X-ray and have to go back in 6 weeks to get it checked again.

Our nanny started this week it is sooooooo great having a bit more help so I get a break and can go out and get stuff done without having to take all 3 kids.

Noah & Lola got there 6wk immunisations this week and since I am such a woss took Noel with me to do the holding but they were both fine and only cried a bit.

Right better get back to what I should be doing which is paying some bills while it is all quite here!

Have a good weekend all

Hi Floss, yay for the nanny. I bet it feels great to be able to get out & have a little time to yourself. Sorry to hear about Noah's heart murmer though. I hope you get some good news at the next check-up

Peanut, believe me I am seriously considering getting a dummy. I think DH needs a bit of convincing but I'd guess he's at the stage where he'll say yes to giving anything a go... we are both so tired which doesn't help. I really hope baby improves a little before DH goes back to work or it won't be much fun for him .

Hey all. On the dummy subject, I was always open to the idea, I mean babies love to suck (especially Phoenix, his hands are his favourite toy).

We had a really grizzly night 2 nights ago and I was still weak and tired from all that time at the hospital and caved into the whole dummy thing, now I wouldn't be without it.

He only gets it as a last resort but I always carry one with me. The Avent one that came with my breast pump is the best, he doesn't seem to like the Tommee Tippee ones (as they are bigger).

Yip, Avent all the way for us to. It came in my newborm bottle started pack. I always carry one to, as really don't want an over tired baby. i think the trick is to feed first to make sure its not hunger etc then use the dummy.

Sally, lots of good research on here for convincing DH if need be. Theres an article in that section showing that dummies can help in the prevention of SID's and also my MW said to me..."let them suck a dummy as you can always get rid of a dummy but you can't get rid of their thumb".

Hi Janey, I haven't put it in the birth story section yet. It was under pregnancy, and I believe there was a thread made about a week ago about PJ's arrival. It goes on a bit, and I left loads out... but I couldn't go on typing forever.

Who out of you ladies tore? If any of you did?

I did, only got 3 stitches I think, still hurts sometimes to pee but getting better. Just drinking heaps of water so my pee's not acidic!

When I was pg, DH was completely against dummies (we both have that horrible picture of 3 year olds running around sucking dummies) but then he saw how well it worked for his friend and was sold. We only started using it 2 days ago as Jack just wouldn't settle. We only offer it as a last resort or if mummy and daddy are really too tired to care He's a finger-sucker too so I figure a dummy is probably better.

Anyone had/have a jaundice baby? We're having to bake our boy in the sun every day and he's finally starting to turn away from being a wee mello-yello. He loves lying naked (bar a nappy of course) in the sun.

For those with older babies, how long did it take you to feel normal 'down there' again? I figure 2-3 weeks? Or longer?

I felt all good after about 10 days! And at 6 weeks its def all normal again.

I love watching Mac sun bath naked. He loves it to and looks so blissed out.

Am suppose to be packing.... but am getting my last fix of Ohbaby for a while, although imagine I will have to come on once or twice in the next two weeks to check up.

Hey Emz, I had stitches and a rough, pretty quick birth and it took me about 5 weeks before I was feeling 'normal' down there again. It was a feeling that my insides were going to drop out that slowed me down...

Hi all, have been away at the beach and have come home to find that this thread has been quite busy! I have read through the posts but cant remember what everyone has said. Sorry!! I will try though.

Emz, Bella is a lazy sucker too. It takes around 1 1/2 hours for her to feed as she dozes off then I unlatch her thinking she has got enough but then she wakes up 5 mins later wanting a feed. It is very stressful. I too use EBM but really want to perservere with the breast feeding as I hate all the sterilising and washing.

LL, I tore and had stitches too. I personally thought the graze that I also got is 1000 times worse. Stiches seem to heal really fast. I have another problem now as it hurts to pee. MW gave me prescription for UTI but that didnt work. Not sure what else it could be?

Sally, I too am having sleeping issues. I am lucky to get a 3hr stretch during the day and only slightly longer at night. I dont know why as she gets EBM at night and sometimes packs away 160mls . We had a really tough night the other night where she wouldnt settle and we ended up driving her round in the car. We also bought a dummy the next day but I am not yet sure I want to use it.

Bellas hair is falling out!! Eek!! is this normal?

I am getting called now...wah wah.

Hope everyone is well!

Hi Topsy,
Hair falling out is normal - I'm waiting to see if Rowan's will do that too.

We have the same issue with sleep except that in the day it's about 2 hours and from about 5-8 she generally won't go down at all. For Rowan it's generally wind, though the 5-8 time she's usually pretty happy and doesn't seem too tired which is odd I think.

Put some photos up in our photo thread if anyone wants to take a peek.

Lol girls . Liam has a receeding hairline too. Poor wee bubba.

DH is keen so we're going to try a dummy. I hope it will be helpful but I suspect it will be as he too loves sucking on his hands & fingers. Our next challenge is to get him sleeping in his basinette again...

DH is convinced that Liam doesn't like sleeping on his back. Could this be true? During the day he sleeps on his tummy on his mat on the lounge floor & during the nght he sleeps on his tummy on my or DH's chest...

This sleeping thing really isn't going at all how I wanted it too but I am determined to not let it upset me...

Sally I have the same problem with Bella. She dosnt like to sleep flat and happily sleeps in her capsule and pram. She does however sleep better in her cot than the bassinett. Roll on the magical six week mark when she will turn into a sleeping and eating angel! Not holding my breath.

I am still having feeding issues which really stesses me out. My supply has settled down, we have a good latch and have tried many strategies but still we have problems. I am considering calling a lactation consultant as my last resort. Anyone know the cost?

DF is back at work today after 3weeks at home. I know I will cope as I had the first week at home by myself but I will still miss his help. This means I will also be doing most of the weeknight feeds. I will be very tired.

I'm worried about when DH goes back to work too (on Monday). During the day Jack is on 3-hourly feeds so by the time he goes back down for a nap there's only 2 hours until I wake him again (or sometimes he wakes earlier). At night though he seems to wake every 2 hours, so I only get an hour nap between getting up and expressing etc.

We had to tilt Jack's bassinet for the first couple of days as he was still really mucousy but has settled now with the bottle so at least its one victory, if somewhat small.

I know that an appt with a lactation consultant in Chch is about $60, which would be worth it if you could sort out the issues.

Jackson looks like he has a receeding hairline and mullet too. I'm just hoping that when his hair falls out it grows back as I was a very bald baby (until I was almost 4 ) so he better not follow me with that or I'll be gutted!

**lurker again**

emz, at least he is a boy, thy don't look quite so silly when they are bald (I was a baldy too)

on the sleeping thing, it might be worth trying them sleeping on their sides... I did this with Luke for the first 2 weeks and he slept alot better I feel - then he settled down and now sleeps the best on his back - lots easier to wrap etc too...

I tried him on his side earlier & he just rolled onto his back but I probably hadn't positioned him quite right. I have made a small breakthrough this afternoon though as he's currently asleep in his basinette on his back . I moved it into the lounge as I suspect he just likes to know he's near to us.

I had sushi for lunch today & was tempted to get a cream donut too but resisted the urge . Who else has been eating foods we couldn't during pregnancy?

I sleep Rowan on her side in a sleep wedge. She just won't settle on her back. Sleeping in the day is sometimes an absolute disaster - she won't go down at all and then gets so tired she will only sleep on one of us. It's getting better since we started only sleeping her on her side.

Topsy yay for your milk supply settling down - mine is still all over the show because Rowan still hasn't decided on anything resembling a schedule (except she wakes every 3 hours at night to the minute ). My friend used a Lactation consultant and it was $60/hour and she had two visits.

My Mum has been here almost every day since DH went back to work but she has to go and get her classroom sorted from next week so I will well and truly be on my own. I am a bit worried about going stir crazy by myself.

I want sushi now....(even though I've eaten a ton since Rowan was born)

Hmm haven't had sushi yet but have had KFC (without nuking it in the microwave), a chicken mayo roll from KB's, segg, stuffing... I'm such a wee piggy!

Went out for our first walk today with Jackson, it was so nice to get out in the fresh air (had been out a bit before, but exercise is wonderful).

I'm pondering how long it will take me before I get sick of expressing milk... I know breast is best and all, but I say give me another few weeks and I'll be looking into what brand of formula to buy! I think its a self-conscious thing for me, I'm not proud of my boobs and I don't a) want to flop them out in public or b) have to pump in public/around family like a dairy cow. For now I'm just stockpiling as much as possible so DH can take a few feeds when I go back to work (part-time) in LESS THAN 2 WEEKS!

I haven't really had the chance to have anything that I shouldn't of had during pregnancy, except for a sandwich at a cafe (which had egg in it).

Hows everyones weight doing since the birth of their bubbas?

I still have alot of fluid retention to pee out, but I have lost 13 kilos so far, I'm 6 kilos from my pre-preggy weight but I was also at my heaviest when I fell pregnant, so a long way to go for me. I am just grateful that most of my weight in the last 8 weeks of pregnancy was mainly water.

I look at my marshmellow tummy and pout, but then I remember what it is all for and don't mind so much.

I hadn't weighed myself since I was about 30 weeks but I know that now I'm still 10kgs off my pre-preggy weight. My belly's not too bad, a few stretch marks below my belly button and a couple small ones above, and its quite small. Just needs to be tightened.

I'm loving my feet though! Almost forgot what they normally looked like, I can see my ankles and the bones on the top of my feet. Thank god for small victories aye!

emz, Lauren had really really bad jandice, nearly at the level where she was to be kept in hospital and be put under the lights, but luckily the level dropped and she was able to come home with me!

Plenty of natural sunlight through a window and lots and lots of feeds as the feeds helps the kidneys and liver flush through the blood cells that cause the jaundice! It took Lauren about two weeks to turn a normal looking colour! She was honestly so orange it was unreal! Jaundice causes sleepiness too, which often makes feeding harder than normal!

As for the b/f, I absolutely promise it does get way better and way easier. I expressed for nearly 3 weeks when Lauren was born due to many issues. I was so tempeted to go to forumla. Everytime Lauren woke to feed, I would bawl my eyes out as I just had so many problems with it. Now 12 weeks on, I would never have believed how easy it is until I have now been through the worst of it and I actually really enjoy b/f now, its so much easier than making up a bottle! Just go with the flow and don't put too much pressure on yourself!

Peachy, how easy was it for you to go back to boob after bottle feeding?

I actually think I have serious issues with the thought of breastfeeding though, and I'm constantly torn between the fact that breastmilk is best so I should and want to give it to him, but also that I need an op on my boobs and I could be called up at anytime so would have to stop b/fing / expressing. I also think of the extra damage that my giganta-boobs are causing now that the milks in. It's kind of between a rock and a hard place really. But the thought of b/fing freaks me out for some reason even though I didn't mind it for the first couple of days.

I have about 6kg to lose before I am back to pre-preg weight It is slowley falling off with BF though

I too am giving EBM at the moment Emz. I do try to BF for couple of feeds per day just to keep it going but the bottle probably dosnt help my lazy sucker. I have to do it to keep my sanity though! I am still going to perservere as I really dont want to give formula just yet. I am stubborn

Peachy, your story gives me confidence to keep going!!! Thanks!!!

After a day of no sleep she slept well last night and so far so good today. I think she had wind/colic yesterday.

Last day with MW today and then I start with plunket next week.

Surprisingly my weight is the same as it was before I got pregnant. My tummy could do with a bit of toning up but I'll hold off on the sit-ups for a bit longer . Not that I ever did any before... My tummy still is a little sore some days but it's generally healed very well.

We're having our last MW visit tomorrow too. We are quite glad really as she hasn't been terribly helpful since giving birth. I'm sure Plunket will be able to give us better/more advice etc.

I really feel for you girls who are having b/f'ing troubles. I am very lucky as it's going really well for us now. No more bleeding & lumps so I'm happy. Just remember you should do what's best for you & bubs. They say breast is best but not if you're losing your sanity

Topsy, is there a Plunket Family Centre where you live? You can book in & spend the entire day there & they help you out with sleeping, settling etc etc. They also have a lactation consultant who you can spend time with. It doesn't cost you anything (but I think they like you to give a donation). If you didn't want to pay for a private LC that might be a goer??
