Michelle was blind and very physically and mentally disabled but was such a joy to know. It really was her time as her body was worn out from years of fighting. Although I'm pleased to know she is at rest and free from the confines for her body, I will miss her dearly.

Over the years my Mum invested every ounce of herself into seeing Michelle be the very best she could be. Over the years both Mum and I spent weeks and weeks at Michelles side as she fought for her life. Thankfully she was at her IHC home when she passed away. No more needles, no more pain, no more suffering.

I'm very worried for my Mum as she has always said Michelle is her only reason to live. Anyone been there before and got any ideas of how I can support her?

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, even though as you say, she is at rest now. I haven't been in your position, but I also think, maybe just be there for your mum as much as you can.

Im sorry to hear this as someones passing is never an easy thing to deal with...even if it was her time.

Make sure your mum has things to fill her time with too as the time she went to visit her each week will seem empty...took us a while not to turn off to the resthome or think we had to go for quite a while after grandma passed.

thoughts are with you and your family

Big hugs Fiona - sorry to hear that.

I agree with BS, once everything has quietened down your mum will have a big hole to fill and will need something to do.

Thinking of you and your family.

Oh wow Fiona, sorry to hear that.

I don't know from experience, but once your mum has had some time to grieve, maybe encourage her to get involved in some hobbies? Or maybe even attend meetings for those who care for IHC people? (Unless that'd be bringing up too many memories?)

Much love and hugs

aww fiona sorry to hear about your sister - big hugs. I agree with what everyone has said on here BUT also that you need to be able to grieve as well and not feel like you have to be the one to hold it together. It has probably opened the door for you to get closer to your mum as special needs people do take alot of time and I am sure some time in your life you have had to step aside with time for your mum and sister...

Thinking of you and your family

oh fiona i'm so sorry to hear about your sister

as the others have said, it will be once things settle down abit that your mum will notice the 'spare time' more. just being there for her when she needs it and popping in for a coffee will be appreciated

Fiona, I am so sorry to read your news. Sibblings with special needs are very very special people and I know you are going to miss her like crazy.

Hon may I suggest that you also worry about you. Be there for your Mum, but you need support too.

My Mum is very sick and I know that that main reason she gets up in the morning is her grandchildren. One thing I suggest if possiable is give your Mum more time to see Elle, grandchildren are great medicine

anyway, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
