I am astounded at how many nappies we are going through! Lauren poos at every feed, so I have started changing her mid-feed, but sometimes she will poo again at the end of the feed, so have to change her again.
Has anyone found a place that sells Huggies at a good price other than to look out for Countdown specials? Maybe an online store or something?? I don't have the time to search myself and was thinking someone may have already done a search!
I am looking at going to cloth but not until after Christmas at this stage.
TIA

I would recommend cloth - you can't beat em, however did see countdown advertised huggies for $8.96 on the TV last night - might be worth stocking up.

why not try treasures - half the price of huggies and we love them!
also the ones from the nappy trial...we love those ones but they dont make the bigger sizes...i think they were better than huggies or treasures to be honest! and a lot lot cheaper!!!

Do you have any prefolds, peachy, because they're really good for newborns and their explosions!! I found them way better than any sposie...

BS what nappy trial are you talking about?? I am a bit slow (baby brain at times)!!
Good point I am happy to try treasures, I was just recommended Huggies by all my friends, so only went with them!

S&B - What are prefolds? Do you mean the good old fashioned flat white square ones cause I have two dozen of those?!

Peachy, I found treaures to be abit hopeless. We get the large boxes of Huggies nappies from 'Nappies for less' in Archers Rd, Glenfield. A box of 100 costs $40. You can also by them cheaply online (ie, Babyonline.co.nz), but will need to pay postage.

No, they are a modern version of flat cloth nappies, made out of cotton with an extra layer in the wet zone and absorb more. You use a cover with these and a stay-dry liner if you want (just pulled this from the cloth nappy thread )
Way more absorbant and you just fold them into thirds and pop them inside a cover. I got a box of trial ones from Real Nappies which included 10 prefolds and 3 covers for $60. Certainly worth it because even huggies nappies didn't contain Bella's explosions (it just went over the top and up her back )

i found sealer nappies, cien nappies and pams ultimate better than huggies.
you can get the first 2 brands online from diapersdirect.co.nz - diapers direct
and
babysupplies.co.nz - baby supplies
i think those addresses are right, if not, just do a google for the nappy name

Try Nappies For Less stores or Babyonline.
We use Tendersoft nappies from Pak n Save when the others aren't on special - $4.99 for 24 nappies.
Can't wait until I can switch her over to our cloth nappies though.

We are using the sealer nappies ($15.99 for 56 nappies) and I am really happy with them so far... they seem to contain most explosions, at least as well as huggies anyway... (I'm not convinced that there is any nappy that could contain some explosions...)

I hated the sealer ones...found them really cheap and nasty and did not hold up well overnight at all
However the lexus MUMI ones were great....i would have kept buying them if they came in ellas size....post five months!!!
check out the OB golden nappy awards (do a search if you cant find it)

I think a lot is trial and error. We don't like treasures ultra, but giggles are ok during the day. Sealer were good, and the baby factory ones were too. If you ask the nappy places, they should sent you samples for you to try.
The cheapest I have found huggies are when countdown do them for $9 a packet (which is on at the moment).

Yep it is trial and error and different nappies suit different babies. With my older girls I was such a nappy snob and would only use Huggies. Admittedly Treasures did leak with them.(they have improved since 9 years ago) But I prefer treasures with Alyssa and have never had a problem they even fit her better than huggies. And when they come on special for $14.99 for the bulk pack it's not too bad.
I just read all the junk mail and stock up when there is a special.

I second the trial and error thing- different fits work (or don't) on different shaped babies. I e-mailed a nappy store and asked for samples of ones that fit slender babies with skinny thighs and they sent 2 different ones - I'll go and buy their Sealer ones for Ella after trying them.

I have found that we have leakage with Treasures, so if Lauren is a big "poo-er" then it might be a bit messy! We are buying Huggies in bulk boxes of 100 from Nappies Direct, they only charge $3 for courier, so its almost cheaper than driving to the supermarket! http://www.nappies.co.nz - http://www.nappies.co.nz is their website. I suspect that there are cheaper ones online as well - we pay $45 for a box and they deliver the next day. Fantastic!

yeah Ella is long and skinny too - we now use toddler (we dont go by age on packets!) size and have used crawler from about 3 months!!!
we have never had any leaks with treasures and she sleeps 12 hours. We also buy on special - mostly at NW as they are from $5.99 - $6.99 for 16 or 20 pack - weird but works out cheaper than the bulk packets of same nappies even.
The MUMI ones work out even cheaper and come from nappies on line or babies on line
Youll find the right one for you....

Coundowns special on huggies at the moment = around $32 for 100, so its a really good special. I use huggies in the night as they last longer in mopping up the wets...and use cheaper ones (treasures, home brand like "loving touch") during the day when I can change her more often.
