I'm having issues with bath time at the moment. Every bath time Joy screams uncontrollably after we get her out. My mum suggested that she just doesn't want to get out of the bath and hates being dried & massaged etc. I'm not so sure. She is fine in the bath but starts cry-screaming about 2 mins after she's out. Anyone have any ideas to get her to stop so we can all enjoy bath time?

We had that too but it progressed to screaming in the bath as well. She was in the big bath at that stage but we changed back to the baby bath, set it up in the lounge and put a cartoon or some music on. It worked a treat. After a month or so we moved back to the bug bath and all was fine again.

Bella is like that sometimes, and usually its because we've left it too late and she's just too tired to enjoy the whole bath experience . She never screams while in the bath (she actually LOVES the bath) but sometimes when she is overtired she'll scream from the moment we get her out until she gets her final bottle of the night , so it could just be tiredness?? We always bring Bella out into the lounge to dry her/put her clothes on as its warmer and the TV is a good distraction

Could it be that she is thirsty, the warm water can sometimes dehydrate fairly fast & when she comes out she may just need a quick drink or maybe try a small top up just before the bath

Sam used to do this too. She loved the bath but would scream and cry when we started to dry her off. It seemed to be a stage because she has stopped doing it now - thank goodness!!

Kylah does it every bath time too.. still does.
I think its becuse the bath is war and them the air hits her and its freezing and she hates it. The only way we can stop the crying it to cuddle her in her towel for about 10 min. By them shes dry and warm and we dress her. Or put the dummy in her mouth and she doesnt cry.

ok, we usually feed her before we bath her so she has a full tummy (tried bathing in the middle of a feed because that's when we usually change her anyway but that didn't work) then we bathe her for about 10 mins, she gets out and has a wheat pack underneath her while drying. 2 mins later she is screaming her head off, no cuddles seem to soothe her. We massage lotion into her skin for approx 2 mins (or as quick as possible coz of the crying), dress her and then give her a top up. The top up usually calms her down...but not last night.
Maybe a shorter bath is needed? Or maybe she hates the massage?

Spencer is only in the bath for a max of 5 mins, he wears him self out with all the splashing, he is quite happy once out though but when younger sometimes he would cry (normally just got too tired in the bath) so I would wrap him in his towel so he was all snuggly and whack him straight on the boob and later would have his bottle all ready to go so he could go straight from bath to feed without getting annoyed with the massage and dressing. Once he was full I would check he was thoroughly dry give him his massage, dress and put to bed seemed to do the trick.

Thanks ladies, I have tried a couple of your ideas and it seems to be a little calmer in the bathroom. I am usually able to get to massage her now before the crying begins. Hopefully it will get better as time goes on.

I'd try a shorter bath for a little while and see how you go. Wipe her all down, give her a minute to kick, get her out etc. And sounds like she works up an appetite while in there so make sure feed is handy afterwards! I was originally going to say the same thing as ShellandBella. We had the same problem and I have changed to morning/afternoon baths instead of evening so the baby is not too tired.

We used to bath about 4.30/5pm, for a while i used to pick paris up every 2 seconds which would stretch out the process of dressing terribly as each time i put her back down she'd start crying again. lol then i got crafty, i woulkd dry her bottom enough to stick her nappy on, stick a new warm towel on her then give her half a feed wrapped warmly in her towel. lol. after that she'd be much more happy to get dressed before the last half of feed then off to bed so we got dinner in peace.
