that was really sad. I am constantly surprised how much soft drink people buy - not at the moment cause it's xmas, but just for everyday. i just grew up with it being a treat.

OMg i thought the same thing, also you look at the amount they spend, and the more crap there the more it cost. The ones that simply has the essentials - ie lots of fruits and veges and meat and a bit of dairy product.. spent far less.

Re: the German family - that's pretty typical, we used to spend HEAPS on groceries too, but you have to buy bottles of water (that's most of the bottles on their table btw.) and that's quite expensive too.

I liked how the German family had everything lined up so perfectly - you could tell it was the German one without even reading it!

I wonder with some of the less expensive ones if some of the fruit and vege came from gardens. it hought the Egyptian diet looked pretty good.

The last one made me cry.
