Hi. I am hoping someone can help me. My son is nearly 8 months old and we have been breastfeeding well (apart from a couple of bouts of mastitis). Recently I have had a sore on my breast. It is just outside the base of my nipple and is about the size of a pin head. It is an open sore. My son has 6 teeth and at first I thought that his teeth were grating on my breast until I found the sore. It felt like a knife cutting me each time he sucked. It cleared up eventually but now I have one on the other breast. Is it related to his teeth? I don't really want to wean him, I had hoped to breastfeed until he was at least a year. I haven't been to see my doctor yet as although it is very sore it seems rather silly to see him about it. Any suggestions would be great.

I dont know if it is his teeth, it could be an ingrown hair or just about anything. I would put some Purelan on it, that always helps me. My little monkey has 2bottom teeth and 2fangs at the top and she bites hard. I had mastitis and blocked ducts and thrush on my nipples so I feel your pain. So I would try the Purelan and see how you go. Hopefully you get it sorted.

I would just go to the Dr and get checked out. Madeinoz made a good point about it being an ingrown hair. I doesnt sound like it is the teeth so i dont think you have anything to worry about stopping Bfeeding. Big hugs hun for Bfeeding thru the pain. Best of luck girl

Linzy I would recommend you see the doctor as well. If even just for your own peace of mind that it is something minor. Maybe his teeth have scraped a hair folical or something like that?
I sympathise as my nearly 8 month old is now biting, so totally understand b/feeding through the pain

Big Hugs to you
