well since sarahs (5) holidays have started from kindy she has had such a horrible attitude with everything and everyone including her friends as i invited a few over as i thought she may have been bored but no she even treated them horribly too!!
i am totally at a loss of what to do, a few friends have said that there kids were the same just before they started school too, ??!!
but its getting really terrible and this is what happens . .

if we send her to her room - she screams the house down so dh shuts the door she kicks it then proceeds to rip each draw out 1 by 1 throwing all her clothes toys etc around her room then rips all the pictures and posters off the wall. or throws anythng that will fit out the window

the naughty corner - resulted in the wall paper being torn off the wall! so mil sugested the bathroom 4 time out which ended in every non nailed down or locked away product squirted from ceiling to floor and toilet paper rolls in the loo.

she tells me im naughty and to go to my room and tells my mum and mil and my friends that there not the boss of the house or the boss of her so they cant tell her what to do and they should go away as she doesnt like them, shes also told a pregnant friend of mine that she was fat and told my mil that she was ugly!! or if i put her toys away she screams at me "look what youve done now you stupid girl!!!" i have NEVER spoken to her like that ever so i have no idea where all this is coming from

what to do now . .
nothing works

Yikes! Having no toddlers myself I don't know if I can help! But one technique my mate uses on her daughter (who is now a little angel) is locking away (in a lockable toybox - has a padlock on it) everything she loves, like all her toys, and books and everything when she is naughty. And then every 15 mins that she behaves she is allowed to take one back and once shes been good for 2 hrs (i think) she unlocks the box completely. She soon got sick of being naughty and having nothing fun to do.

And if she packs a tanty and throws everything out of her draws she is made to put it all back and isn't allowed her toys until she has done so.

thats a good idea, dh has removed all toys etc from her room even the walls are bare but that results in even bigger tantrums and the bed being constantly stripped down and matress pushed off too

hi, my daughter was exactly the same at that age (shes almost 8 now) and it was hell. i have a son as well that is a week off 5 and he is getting a bit of attitude too, but not nearly as bad as lani was.
there seems to be an awful time right before they start school. i tried the time out thing too and naughty chair. i had about the same luck, screaming tantrums and lots of destroyed things. we have started taking things off them until they behave , which can work quite well, but you have to really stick to your guns (which i find hard sometimes). also distraction is good, i find mine calm down if they have sometihing physical to do(gardening, riding bikes, running on the beach) try not to stress too much, it will pass.
