I'm so exhausted all the time, can never seem to get enough sleep.....I'm sure its due to breastfeeding...which zaps you of all your energy. Can't wait to get my energy back again one day!

Does anyone else feel this way?

Yeah it can seem quite tiring- particularly when they are going through growth spurts (thank goodness we are over that) and it seems like they are premently (sp) attached to you. Also doesn't help if are still waking up in the night for a feed.

Make sure that you are take some supplements- I am still taking elevit and find that when I forget to take it for a while, my energy levels drop right off.

BTW love the name of your bubs (it seems to be very popular at the moment).

Absolutely! Well, not right now but certainly when my babies were young and bf. The first 8 weeks are the worst because they are up half the night feeding when you're the tiredest. After then they start feeding so much better and the tiredness starts to ease - particularly when they are sleeping through the night (or mostly) as well. Should pick up for you again soon

Yup im constantly tired and ALWAYS looking for food, not a nice feeling and almost impossible to lose weight when you're always grabbing at food :(

Been thinking about how long I want to breastfeed for, Originally one year was going to be my stopping point, but i'd like to go as long as possible (18months-2years MAX ...none of this feeding them till they're teenagers crap you see on weird documentaries). Lucas has started biting me regularly though and boy does it hurt!!!

How long are you all planning on breastfeeding for?

I will aim for at least 2 now. Been reading a lot about it and it has heaps of benefits for bubba and mother in terms of health to extend feed. But then some bubas wean themselves so who really knows!

With the tiredness, remember than whe you feed you get a hit of prolactin which is a sleep hormone, so that makes you feel tired too.

Can I get prolactin hits all day long??!?! ha ha ha

Think I might need to take iron tables 3 x daily.....to get ontop of the tiredness....and perhaps increase my MEAT intake - a good steak might fix me right up!

Yeah, I wonder sometimes if it is low iron, as I was so low just before giving birth, Might get it checked. But it is probably just the prolactin hit after each feed making me wat to go to sleep!

Will probably try and breastfeed for a year and then wean her. When i was pregnant I thought I would only breastfeed until she was 3 months, but then found that I really enjoyed it and luckily we haven't had any problems, so I am going to try and continue. Mum said when I was a baby I self weaned at around 10 months, so will see if Ella is the same.

I 2nd the prolactin hits - I nearly fall asleep sometimes.

The tiredness is hard, my baby still feeds 2 hourly and wakes 2-3 times a night and I have two others to run around after. I 2nd the elevit and checking your iron levels.

BF is tiring - but I love it becuase it is a great excuse to sit down and rest - without the BF I would never sit down.

Yip and I get really cold as well. Iron pills work wonders but I think my main problem is that I'm actually not getting enough sleep.

I'm just taking bfing one day at a time at the moment, I really wanted to tandem feed my 2 but it just didn't happen so Jack weaned at 13 months. He wasn't really into it anymore and it was really hurting, but Caprece loves it more than jack did so she might continue for a bit longer than that.

I was tired too - very much so. Ended up going to my GP and getting bloods done as I was sure I had an iron deficiency or something Turned out I was all OK. I did find that taking some B vitamins (mix of liquid B vits) helped a bit.

Yup, I'm always dozing off while BFing even during the day.. It's horrible and I feel so bad for my little lady as it's supposed to be a bonding time I do have n iron deficiency due to loosing alot of blood during my c-section so was prescribed iron tablets but they don't seem to be helping with my lethargy

Ah, me too! I crave the day that I wake up feeling energetic!! I really wonder how people manage to BF with a toddler as well - must be exhausting. Hats off to those of you who are doing that.
I find multivitamins really help me... :)
