Baby arrives in 2 months I'd like to hold baby but still have my hands free to do stuff. What did you use and what are the pro's & con's?

I have a sling (an american brand) and a front pack (phil N teds) and I LOVE my sling. Its so much easier to get in and out of on your own and its really comfy. It took me a while to get used to not having to hold it as was a bit nervous at first but now am fine. Was greatf ro doing xmas shopping.
The front pack is tricky to do on your own and i also find it heavier and uncomfortable but my DH loves the front pack and won't use the sling.

We used an abc carrier when Maddie was around 5 months...I love the soft frame style!! We've also order a papatum to take along on our cruise and I have read pretty good things about them so far.

I have tried both and find a sling much easier to get a baby in/out of and adjust - BUT it takes longer to get used to in the beginning. Kryssi has outgrown the frontpack but Briona has only just outgrown the sling - so it lasts a lot longer too. Also the sling I have is just material so it folds down fairly compact and I still like to chuck it in a bag etc for if we are going for a bush walk and I suspect someone may get tired along the way.

I have to slings and a frontpack. Frontpack is great for a bit older and with shopping etc. and sling is great for around home and settling baby. I have a natures sway sliing that is hard because it need adjusting and fiddling with but my material one size is great you just throw it on and throw baby in (well not quite).
I agree with busymum though they do take getting used to

I had a front pack with Maya and hated it, a Natures Sway with the gremlins and it was great but looking at getting a Dulce and Zoet one for this bub coz they look way easier to use.

I've got two slings - one Dulce&Zoet and the other starflower. Both have been great. I still use mine and Zoe is now 1.

I had a baba sling to begin with, then ended up with a Moby Wrap when Lucy was around 4 months.
Pro's of the sling:
-quick and easy to use
Con's
-it didn't take long for my back to start aching
-she couldn't burp very well in it and since she was a windy baby this ended up being a problem.
I switched to a Moby Wrap when she was around 4-5 months old and wished I'd had it when she was newborn as it would have been a lifesaver when she went through that stage of wanting to sleep on me all the time. She could burp easily and was really happy and content in it, and best of all my back was spared as it spreads the weight.
Con's - there is a bit of a learning curve but it really only takes about 2-3 goes to get it right.
I liked it so much I started my own business in June this year and I am now the distributor for them in New Zealand.

We sell both of them now. The patapum is better for older babies and is super convenient. The only little baby I've seen trialled in it didn't like it, but it is fantastic for later on. You can see what they look like in my siggie.

I have just ordered one of http://store.attachedtobaby.com/products/Ergo-Baby-Carrier-Organic.aspx - these - an Ergo Baby Carrier in Organic Chocolate. I have tried out various slings and carriers before, but now that my daughter is not so little this suits us best. When baby #2 arrives I will just get an infant insert, or use a wrap until they are comfortable in the Ergo (am leaning towards having a Moby on hand as backup).

Robyn we got a Moby from you and now we have the baby to go in it I can tell you it's fantastic. I'm not quite as handy with it as DH is yet but I'm getting there.
She's a windy baby and was also breech and so loves being upright. She went into the wrap first time with no complaints and went straight to sleep which I thought was awesome as I expected to have a few goes before she'd get used to it.

Congratulations!!!! Glad your baby loves the Moby Wrap. I really wish I'd had mine when Lucy was tiny also. Windy babies are hard work.
