I'm going to be getting a fairly early night as I've been sick all week with a horrid cold and I still have it...that combined with a 6.30am start tomorrow doesn't entice me to do much!!
We'll probably just watch a DVD.
Anyone else having a more exciting New Years than me?

We were thinking of having a barbie at our place. Most of our friends have children so it's easier to do something together than find babysitters & go out. We had a bit of a pre-new years outing into town on Saturday night & I'm still tired from it, so would be happy to have a cruisey bbq tonight & maybe some singstar .
Who knows if I can stay up til midnight though!

We've got people coming over for a bbq at 6ish, and then we normally crank up the Singstar/Buzz/EyeToy games and have a real giggle playing those. The way I feel this morning I doubt I'll make it to midnight too.

It's actually quite funny as our middle aged neighbours have more parties than we do! But they are really respectful & have the music turned down by 11:30/12am & they're not rowdy, just mature people having a good time. So I don't mind that at all.
Otherwise our neighbourhood is very quiet - consists of elderly people or young families - Yay for that!
It's very quiet at our neighbour's house at the moment & usually if they're having people over they're outside getting things organised so I'm wondering if they'll be out tonight instead of hosting.

Nope nothing, DF started work at 5am this mornign so he will be tired and he starts at 6am tomorrow so he has to be up early again. We will probably watch a movie and go to bed after the countdown, or possibly fall asleep before then! lol

We are going round to friends for a bbq. Will see in the new year but hopefully I'll be able to drag a drunk DH home not long after And this is all based on being able to settle Ashleigh there and her going to sleep as she has a virus and is a bit funny going to sleep at other peoples houses at the moment. But HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!!!

Nothing here in Papamoa..No doubt the neighbours will be partying and the Innaugral HUGE banging fireworks will go off literally in our back year and give us all a fright.......
With Hubby working hard over the last few nights and a trip to Auckland and morning sickness...Bed sounds the best option!!!

Emma that sounds like the fireworks over the habour bridge will be fun! I'm sure they always put on an awesome display.
Kelpa - I thought you lived in Papamoa, another thread you mentioned about going to the plaza & went past the Pap Tav, I was thinking "is she talking about Palm Beach Plaza & Papamoa Tavern?" Small world aye!

Nothing for us tonight.
It's such a beautiful day here in Tauranga and it's making me sleepy.
I have to get up for work tomorrow - Yay for retail on NY's day. I have a funny feeling the mall is going to be VERY quiet - so I doubt I'll see the new year in.
Italiah, there's quite a few of us from Tga/Mount/Pap, I think.
Best place to live, I say!
(Although, I grew up in Wellington and I still have a very big part of my heart there).

I've had so many late nights lately that tonight will definitely be an early one (don't quote me lol!) TV looks crap So I might do a jigsaw puzzle. DH is playing computer games with a mate so I've told him I wanna hang out with him tomorrow night then cause we haven't really chatted for ages (about 3 days hehehe)

Our plans of a DVD and early night have gone out the window. We got a call late this afternoon from the in-laws to say that DH's grandfather, who had come up to see us for Christmas for the first time in 13 years just to see DD (his only great grandchild), had crashed his car on his way back home in the South Island. Major injuries and he's currently in a coma, we are so worried and DH is so upset. In-laws have flown to be with him so DH and I were at their house to look after things and watch the new puppy. But DD wouldn't settle there (their house is brand new and all windows everywhere, but no dark curtains so like daylight until it actually gets dark. And the most un-child friendly place you could imagine) so I'm back home with her and DH is staying there with the new puppy, who still wakes during the night etc and needs to be fed really early in the morning. So not a good night all round, really. Hope everyone else's nights are better than mine!

Thanks guys, fingers crossed and prayers going on here. Not sure what we are hoping for as he has a broken back along with several other severe injuries.
Being able to come on here is a life saver tonight, so thanks for just being here Hopefully this isn't a sign for how 2008 will go.

I am sorry to have totally killed this thread. But thank you all for your kind words. We are still waiting - always the hard part. Every update brings bad news, so I don't think the end result will be a happy one either way. Not a great start to the year. I am just glad we got to share Christmas with him, it was a really special time and one that we will cherish. And as bad as it sounds, I don't think life would be any good for him if he did wake up - spinal injuries and brain injuries are two of the biggies and for such an independent old guy it would not be a pleasant life to have left. But we will deal with whatever happens from here. Looks like we'll be heading down there soon so I might not be around for a wee while. Thanks again everyone, you are all lovely.
