YEP she did. This random little called me, wait for it "FAT BITCH" in the middle of Westfield.

OK heres the story..

Walking thru Westfield with Alize in the stroller, my sister her DP and my 2 girls. Walk pass a group of teen girls chatting when this girl steps back into my passing stroller and bangs Alize's shoulder. I dont say anything as I thought ok just accident teens being teens and not noticing that there are other people in the mall.

SO as I am just passed her i hear "FAT BITCH" (quite loud so I sont know what she was thinking) OH NO SHE DIDNT JUST SAY THAT I think as I am turing around.

I give the stroller to my sister and walk up to the little tart and say:

me: excuse me what did you just say
Tart: You banged into me
Me: no what did you say
Girl: I didnt mean it you banged into me
Me: we will get back to that in a second, HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT MY KIDS  LIKE CALLING ME NAMES, IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY LETS TAKE IT OUTSIDE OUT OF THE WAY OF MY KIDS OTHERWISE KEEP YOUR NASTY LITTLE COMMENTS TO YOURSELF.  Oh and You stepped into the side of my SONS pram, just cause he was in a pram doesnt automatically make you the victim.
Girl: Im sorry
Me: dont apolgise (sp?) to me I dont care what you call me honey apologise to my girls
Girl: Sorry Girls
Me: thankyou

NOw the thing is I felt sorry for her afterwards as she was scared that confrntd her but she loved it when she was calling me names and her friends al laughing. Arrgghh makes me wonder how some people bring up their kids to think they can say things like that. I mean this girl would have been 17-18yrs.  Oh and all the freind left when I confronted her too. Hmm nice friends

You go gurl!! I'm glad you set her straight! You've got balls (so to speak)lol
It's amazing the disrespect kids and teenagers get away with these days. I know a four year old who calls their parents friends by there first names - my parents would have punished me for that.

Oh baby on board it is so terrible. I think society needs to get back to basics when it comes the the lack of respect coming from the younger generation. What mortifies me more is the fact they think they can speak to adults like that too. When i was yound NO WAY would I even think of saying rude things to an adult whether they deserved it or not. I was always taught to respect other and this is what I am teaching my daughters.

AS for the "ive got balls" AnnC has seen me in action when she was down here. We saw some kids being mean to a homeless blanket man so I HAD to step in adn stop the little mongrels... these ones were about 10 or 11yrs..... very scary, nasty society out there for our poor children.

That's terrible, kels!
Good for you for saying something though! Maybe next time she'll think twice.

But you hit the nail on the head with your "nice friends" comment.
Anyone that lets their 'friend' say something as dispicable as that was obviously never a good 'friend' in the first place!

Working in retail I see some prety shocking stuff. Mostly from kids, but I still see it from grown adults.
Just today I was talking to a woman, mid 50s maybe, who had me bailed up against one of the counters in the store for 45 minutes while she proceeded to rant and rove about the same thing over and over and over again. It didn't matter what I said to her she just kept going.
In the end I said to her (after several previous requests);
me: could we Please sit down to discuss this as I can no longer be on my feet.
her: What do you mean? You work in retail, you should be used to being on your feet.
me: Oh, I am. But I'm 8 and a half months pregnant and I really need to sit down. Otherwise, you're more than welcome to discuss this with one of my collegues, while I go out the back for a rest.
her: Oh, lazy tart!! In my day......
She ended up leaving, saying "I'll be back next week!"
Which is fine by me, as I finish on Friday

But anyway.... back to the initial thread topic..
Kids these days are a huge worry. I think it stems back to their parents.
My sister and I were brought up in a way that we respected our elders. So calling them by their first names was Not Done, just like you said, BabyonBoard.
It worries me what habits my kids are going to pick up when they got to kindy/school etc.
It's not hard to give your kids a good set of moral codes to live by.

Anyway. Before I get too much on my high horse....
hehe

Go you, kels! Like I said earlier, hopefully she now thinks twice not only about how she behaved, but also about her choice of friends!

Ladies it really isnt hard to stick up for yourself when it comes to your kids. You will be very suprised at what strength you have emotionally and physically when your bubbas are involved. My eldest daughter is still so upset someone called me "fat" I said to her this morning  "dont worry luv, its doesnt hurt me" and she said "well it hurts me".

wow kels - good on you! that little tart obviously needed a lesson in how every action leads to a RE ACTION!

It's unbelievable how teens/pre-teens speak these days. I too would never have spoken like that when I was young, nor would I speak like that now!!

I actually find it really frustrating walking around the mall with a pram. I find people actually walk in front of you & expect you to move, or wait for them. I always give way to people with a pram or trolley in the mall as I realise it's easier for me to get out of the way than for them to manoeuvre the pram/trolley.

Haha I doubt that girl will do that again any time soon!Good on you for confronting her, I would do the same thing (but then I'm a troublemaker and love confrontation)!

Oh yeah, and for some reason I'm thinking about that character Martin Lawrence played called Shanaynay, cause I'm sure she did the "oh no you didn't!" haha

kels you are right in when it comes to your kids you get the strength and balls to do it. Alot of people call me 'asertive' though I don't feel like i am (I guess I have to believe I am cause so many people have said I am) I just stick up for things/people when i know I am right or not wanting to see someone ripped off. If i was with you and i heard it if you didn't say anything i would of (stick up for my friend)

You go girl!!! I woulda done the exact same. I get sooo sick of the kids today being so rude and darn right disrespectful, my almost 16 year old stepson included. AND, Charly, I'm a retail chick as well, and I feel your pain. People are just so wrapped up in themselves today, its all "what about me?"
