I have just finished making the cot/bassinet up and when i stood back and looked at it i started crying, Then i started to unpack all the baby clothes mum had washed for me to put away and started crying again.
Its just suddenly hit home that in about 15wks my life is going to be changed forever and that i am going to be responsible for this new life. Dont get me wrong this is something i have always wanted but i just never thought i would be so scared of being a mother. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

That feeling is soooo natural. I was absolutely crapping myself about being a mum, and whether i was gonig to love them enough (when i found out i was having twins i broke down to my friend in a classy snivelly mess and said to her "but what if i dont have enough love for them both?") which by the way i have and over flowing fountain of love for my boys.
And also if i was going to be a good mum and know when they are sick etc and be able to provide for them but you know what i have learnt now is that I am a great mum to my boys and I am providing for them and giving them a safe and loving home. So anyway what im trying to say is your feelings are what most 1st time mums go thru only to find out that they are fine when bubs comes and that there is a heap of support out there it we need it. | i was terrified too. I think most people were. I can honestly say that having jake was a lot easier and more difficult than I expected. I mean, your life really cahnges, but the changes aren't really anything that I miss. |

I am really looking forward to being a mum, but i suppose it just hadnt really sunk in because although we had things they weren't set up in plain view.

what's everyone has said is totally true - sooo normal - and the scary thin gis, the second time round, you feel the way Marlene did, even though you aren't having two at once you still wonder - "will i have enough love for both of them , how do i let the other one in" it just happens you adapt. the first few days are the most scary and exciting in your life, but it always gets easier... ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

I am onto baby number 3 and I said to my husband yesterday that I am as scared of bringing this one home as I was with my first. The bathing part and the working out which cry means what are the main things I am scared of,but i know that it wont take long to sort those out and then I will feel like an old pro at it again.

Oh Kazzle, I am in the same boat as you are. We set up baby's room over the weekend, Jono washed all the clothes etc and I so know how you are feeling. It's scary and exciting and overwhelming all at the same time. Hey, I'm only 19 weeks and I stress that I'm not scared enough. How strange is that? All the wonderful things a pregnant mother has to stress about.
I asked my husband last night if he realised how much I HATE haveing to live with new people. He's the only guy I've lived with that I haven't wanted to kill and now where bringing a REALLY new person into our house. Oh goodness. I wasn't scared when I started writeing this post but I think I need to sit down a have a cup of tea now.

The thing is, babies are so little and cute and snuggly, and once you get over the "oh no, its as fragile as glass and if I'm not careful I'll break it" (which seems to happen around the third sleepless night) you just can't imagine your life without them. Then they start to grow, and everything they do is amazing, and that's when you come on Oh Baby and boast to all of us and those of us without young kids get clucky!
I'm making my husband wait at the moment - he sort-of wants to start TTC #3, and I'm like "no, enjoy our baby while he's still little!" ------------- Becca, mum of 2 girls & 3 boys |

OK - Is it normal to still get scared sometimes when bub is already there!? Sometimes I look at my darling boy and freak out how I am going to manage raising a little person! I can't believe my little girl starts school this year! Thats freaking me out, and Nathaniel just laughs at me! So not helpful!
I think a bit of paranoia is both normal and even healthy when you've got kids - not to the degree where you keep them caged up for fear of what could happen, but if mums are ready for a worst case senario(sp?) then they enjoy whatever happens instead! ------------- Becca, mum of 2 girls & 3 boys |
