Subject: Whose responsibility??

I sold a steering wheel on trade me for $160 a few weeks ago, they paid and I sent it through nzpost last Thursday. They emailed today and said it still hasn't turned up and want me to look into it. It cost $10.95 to send and was going from island to island so is there still a chance its just taking its time or is it lost?? It was sent through the cheapest option and my recipt has lost all the ink off it I'll give Nzpost a call but is there anything they will do?

If its lost what is the deal with the other trader?? Am I suppose to refund even though its gone and they knew it was through nzpost? I'm feeling all stressed out and guilty about it now

I hoping for you that it's just the post is delayed a little bit because of the holiday period I would ring NZpost as if it's been lost they normally reimburse your the value of what you were sending.

Likely it is taking longer than usual...

To be honest I would be inclined to reimburse them unless you have stated in the acution that items will be posted at customers risk..no refunds unless they choose courier etc etc...

Well i know with parcels NZ post insures to $150 or $250 cant remember which. But to trace it you have to provide your receipt so if all the ink has gone i think you will be out of luck.

Things are taking forever! And alyayde is right about the insurance. Take along your faded receipt and see if they can help you.

Cool I hope it shows up. You can read some of the recipt so hopefully they can type in some numbers and see if it comes up or something. I'll be so gutted if its lost.

as most have probably said i would give it another week (email and explain) as the post is very slow at this time of year - espec parcel post. Once all the christmas post has gone thru it should arrive.

If they didnt want it couriered - I'd be inclined to say its their own fault (risk). How do you know they havent got it and are trying to get money back? If you feel you have to refund - i would settle on half, but it is their risk really.

I'd just wait as it takes longer interisland and they have prob only got skelton staff on , I am a huge tradme seller/customer hehe, and interisland things tend to take up to 5 working days sometimes, and lots of people took advantage of Christmas and new year holidays with the way it fell so would say there is prob a back log to catch up on.

I agree with lil_miss, it is at their own risk if they wanted it sent by post and so I wouldn't refund if it does not turn up.

It is probably just a delay due to the time of year..
It's a shame your reciept isn't clear cause that is obviously proof that you have sent it. Mind you, every delivery is put through their computers isn't it? So surely if you went back to the post office and gave the date and approx time you sent it they could check their records for a delivery to that address??

Ultimately you don't have to refund the buyer, and as long as you are doing your best to help find out what happened then they will hopefully be understanding of the situation.. Good luck.

i WOULDNT refund because you dont know if they are telling the truth to get their money back or not and everyone should know that there is a risk with sending things by normal post.

good luck!

I would wait another week also as with all the holidays things could just be delayed. IF there is no insurance I am not quite sure what the rules are on TM - I have seen some TM shops say all care will be taken to track lost items, but it is not their responsibility if it goes missing. Maybe if you email TM and ask them what the right course of action is they might be able to help/

Good luck!

as others have said, i wouldn't refund the whole amount! you don't know if they are telling the truth or just trying to get a free steering wheel!   i'd offer a half or quarter refund because it really is their risk not wanting to courier such an expensive item.

hopefully, and most likely, it's just delayed with the holidays

i have my fingers crossed for you rach!
