So are your kids taking their naps in this hot weather? We're going from 3hour naps one day to no naps the next. We usually have 3.5 to 4 hours total nap time per day, spread over 2 naps.

I'm wondering if it is the heat or a sign of the 2 to 1 nap switch.

Daniel is sleeping like norm, if its hot in his room I put a little fan on and face it away from the cot but it keeps the air circulating and the window is always open (on security latch). I usually just put him to bed in his nappy and thats it so he doesn't overheat.

Gabrielle won't nap without a sleep sack AND the safety sleep unfortunately :(

Ugh! We have issues with our naps at the moment. Gina has only had one nap today for about an hour and refuses to have another
I blame it on teething though as I can see one coming thru

We have 3 teeth coming through too...no wonder we are getting so little sleep and so many tantrums. 16mths old + hot weather = a handful!

Ooo sounds like it could be a combo of the heat and the teeth coming thru I hope those teeth hurry up and come thru soon and she settles for a better sleep during the day. She is gonna need it if she is having party time in her room at night lol

We are having issues as well but i'm blaming the teeth as well. Josh has at least 2 coming through that I can see and I *think* another one as well.

Heat issues here too I think - only at night tho cos she doesnt have day sleeps anymore. Bedtime is 6.30 (and sheis tired then) but she is only just starting to settle down in her room now that it has cooled off. Please someone make this horrid hot weather stop...!

Hope the teeth come through soon Fiona and you get more sleep again.

We are having big problems, Luke seems to be a baby that overheats easily... he has slept for about 2 hours total today - and that was with the fan on and facing directly at him... his grobag egg said it was 29 degrees in his room at one point today...

Caleb's just gone down for the night now because he won't settle earlier. The rooms too hot until about 8pm.

Naps aren't too good either. He had about four 1/2 hour naps one day but today he slept for about two hours

Bedtime has been pushed right back here thanks to a week away with the parents-in-law. She finally took a nap at 5.15pm today and hence has just gone to bed now. She is also waking earlier so our 12 to 13 hour nights are now 10 hours. It is quite hard to get back into routine but I'm sure we'll get there in a week or so.

I only noticed the difference in his sleeps today, as it was so humid. He had a good sleep around 9ish when it was cool.. then for the rest of the day it was cat naps. He went down for night an hour early so I'm hoping he's stays in there, he was shattered when he had his last bottle.

I am so glad it is not just us at the moment!

Samantha is ok with her first morning nap, but has pretty much dropped the afternoon one. Today she had a small catnap at 2.30pm and wouldn't go to bed until 9.30pm, then woke up at 12.30 and has only just gone back to bed now (2.30am)!

We also have teeth coming through atm. I can see one of her top ones about to break through the skin.

I think the worst thing is the humidity. It is like a sticky hot oven in her room.   Her gro bag egg is reading 26 degrees at this hour of the morning!

Roll on winter!!!

Yep Ollie was having difficulty sleeping. We have learnt to keep his curtains to his room closed all afternoon (he has a west facing room) and leave a window open and a fan going. He is sleeping during the day, usually around 2 hours which is about normal. His bedtime has been a little later. He used to be in bed by 7pm, but now its more likely to be 8pm.

we have had nothing but trouble, but it has been 43+ james wont sleep unless wrapped, we tried getting him to sleep unwrapped but nope refsued.
we just had to put a fan in his room to try cool as much as possible, and yeah we have 2eye teeth pushing through which wouldnt be helping.
now its cooled into the 20's its nice and he is sleeping again (until our next hot days lol)

43+

there's no way i could cope with that!!! 30 is enough for me!

charli has just cut 3 new teeth and wouldn't sleep during the day and was waking during the night   she's basically cut out her daytime nap now too!! somedays she won't sleep and some days she will for 2-3hrs.....i put her in her cot anyway for some 'downtime'

It makes me feel heaps better that your bubs' sleep is affected by the weather too. Mine has been having same issue as yours, either no afternoon sleep or going to bed late at night. I even suspected that it may be her time to drop 1 sleep but then did not work well either.

I tell you what...something strange is going down in this house! Missy Moo wouldn't nap at all yesterday until 5pm when she crashed. We got her up for dinner and ending up putting her down, full of energy at 9pm. She was then awake from 2.30 to 2.30am banging on her cot and squealing with delight, then again from 5am to 7am! Yesterday she had a grand total of 8 hours sleep!!!!!!!! This from someone who usually does 15.5! What is up?!

Keziah has one big nap eariler on in the day when it's cooler - normally 2-3 hours and a few cat naps in the afternoon ranging anywhere from about 1/2 an hour to an hour depending on her moods.. Even if she doesn't sleep I don't mind really as it's some downtime which gives us both some time out from each other..
Also I found that putting her to sleep in a singlet and nappy wrapped in a light cotton wrap helps HEAPS!!
