I have a student loan. Am I right in thinking that I don't need to make payments on it while I'm on Maternity leave?

Phew, it's just that they sent me a mailer (a generic one) saying about payment dates and I got a little worried!!!

Yup they just keep on sending those out in the hope that you'll be inclined to make payments anyway, lol!
Even better than that though, if you choose to stay at home after your maternity leave, you still don't have to pay as long as you aren't earning anything

I had student loan payments deducted from my maternity pay that you get from the government.

I think you still pay it out of your maternity leave payments

You will only have to pay anything if you earn anything so the 14 weeks of PPL they will take payments but after that nope. If they send you a bill (like they sent my DH) then I would ring them and let them know you aren't earning any money at the moment.

There is a threshold for when you have to pay and when you dont depending on if and how much money you are earning. I think the generic letters are automatically sent to anyone and everyone who has a Student loan
