I had the experience from hell at the supermarket this arvo. Thankfully DH was with me!

We'd finished our shopping and got to the checkout and Brenna started crying. DH thought she was just sick of being in the trolley so he went to get her out but her leg was stuck. We tried pulling and it wouldn't budge. Her crying turned into screaming. The checkout operator tried to help us then the manager turned up, took one look and ran off to "get some tools" to break to trolley. At the same time DH ran off to get cooking oil to try and free her leg. He said he could hear her screaming right throughout the whole supermarket (and it's a huge one!)
By this stage my poor girl was screaming so hard that she was dry wretching (spl?). There were people everywhere and I was crying cause I thought they were going to break her leg with how hard they were pulling at it. It was a strange situation as I was so shocked/scared that I couldn't say anything and all I could hear was Brenna's screaming and people all yelling different things - "Pull her leg!" "Hold the trolley!" "Don't touch her!" "Don't touch the trolley!" *me crying*

Anyway, DH gets back with the oil and can't get the supid bottle open cause of all the hygienic seals on it. The manager also gets back at this stage with bolt cutters *me still crying*. All of a sudden there's oil everywhere (all over Brenna, me, trolley and floor) and her leg came out!!! YAY!!!

This may not sound very scary but I don't think I've ever been so freaked out in my life! It broke my heart to hear her screaming so loud and everyone was staring and I couldn't do a thing! I cried the whole way home! Apart from a very bruised leg, Brenna is fine

Moral of this story - be careful of supermarket trolleys and legs!

Oh man, that sounds horrible! I'm glad your DH was a quick thinker. How on earth did her leg get stuck like that? And which Hamilton supermarket should I be avoiding because their trolleys sound dangerous!

She got it stuck between the 2 vertical bits right beside the large opening where the leg is meant to go (ut's about 4 cm wide). She has put it through this gap in the past, but her foot/ankle/leg must be a bit fatter now

Aww poor wee girl! I hope she (and you!) get better really fast, and thank goodness for your hubby being there and reacting so quickly!
It sounds like the staff did their best to help you too though?
Ella used to put her leg through the wrong bit quite often too, so lucky she never got stuck!

I'm glad she's OK. I'm still scared to put Gina in one of those supermarket trolley seats - I'm freaked it will somehow overturn
