Oh bum...I have lost the word...you know when they stick needles in you to fix things. (cant believe I have lost the word. My brain has turned to mush)

Anyway, I have an inflammatory Bowel disease which I think is flaring up at the moment after about 7 years of no problems As I am breastfeeding and hoping to get preggers again this year I dont really want to take any drugs if I can help it. So I was thinking of alternative therapy and this is something I have always wondered about.

So I ask.....has anyone tried it and what for and did it work?

ACUPUNCTURE!!!!! Thats what I'm talking about.

I suffered from real bad RSI/OOS when I worked for banks callcentre and I had intense physio along with accupuncture and it was the best thing I ever did. I believe it cured me, I haven't had any problems now for around 3 years.

I've also tried it for my migraines, unfortunately it hasn't been as successful...

I used accupuncture when one of the nerves in my inner ear ruptured and I kept falling over lol....it worked well and for someone who hates needles I didnt find it at all worrying.

Im going to try it to "naturally" induce labour should this wee baby stay put much longer

I've just started acupuncture to sort out my cycles and after 4 sessions - I think its definately working!

It's been great because not only has it seemed to shorten my cycles (which were getting longer) its reducing other ailments I've had (headaches etc).

I would totally reccommend it!

LilFatty - I used it in my last few weeks of pregnancy, and I believe it helped to kickstart the process - but not sure! Fingers crossed for you!

I used it last year to help with my faltering energy levels and badly controlled diabetes. I also tried cupping.. They both worked wonderfully for me! I had bounds of energy and the diabetes was alot easier to control after a few sessions.

I have used it for muscle stuff mostly, in my ankles and my back, physiotherapists do it to help with certain injuries.
I plan to try it this pregnancy to help keep my blood pressure in check, but have no experience with it in that respect.
From what I have heard, it is often quite effective, sometimes not. But not terribly invasive (I couldn't feel the needles at all) and worth a shot I reckon!

I've used accupunture heaps and I LOVE it!

I first started having it a few years ago to help with my migraines (I was getting them weekly and only get one from time to time now).

I then had accupuncture to help with my cycles, during pregnancy for ms, indigestion, back pain, you name it, I got accupuncture for it

Its so relaxing and I found it works a treat!

I heart accupunture and it works a treat for me. I have had it for insomnia, migraines and MS. I was lucky that the GP I used to work with did accupunture too so in my lunch breaks I would get her to give me a few needles depending on what was bothering me at the time. I also had ear accupunture where a small needle is inserted into a certain part of your ear and left there for a week. It all worked really well for me....Damn miss working at the medical centre
