Sorry to clog up the board with all my questions but a little concerned as Bella has not slept at all today (12hrs). She seems uncomfotable and has little cries for no reason. She is not hungry as have been giving her as much EBM as she wants and her temp is normal. What else could it be? It could be colic if she is crying for no apparent reason. You could try gripe water (is sold at supermarkets) also laying bubs face down across your legs and gently rubbing her back can help. One other way is lay bubs on back and gently lift legs into to torso. If not could you perhaps take her for a drive to help her drift off? -------------

She might have wind which would be w hy she looks uncomfy, whenever Daniel had wind at that age we would put him in his pram and push him back and forth over a bump with a blanket overtop of the pram so it was nice n dark and he would eventually drift off. The position he was in in the pram made him more comfy
Otherwise you could try a nice deep warm relaxing bath with her to get her very relaxed and she might go to sleep that way. Like get in a bath with her and make it just how you would have a bath and don't use any bright lights or anything. |

12 hours is a long time for such a little baby. Does she seem uncomfortable? Could be gas and then gripe water may help. Does she cry after a feed and only have small feeds? Could be colic - maybe try keeping her a little bit elevated in a rocker or similar. Is she rubbing/pulling her ears - could be a ear infection.
Can she be easily calmed when she cries? Maybe she just grizzles a little bacause she's tired. Have you tried a kangoroo cuddle - just strip her down to nappy and place her on your bare chest while reclining down - that used to work a treat for Gina when she was little. ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

Topsy - you poor thing, you are having a real time of it. Some days are just crap like that. I had one of those today - baby wouldn't sleep at all! No reason behind it except the heat I think.
In these times I always try to remember that its only one bad day and it will get better - and then I ring whoever I can and ask them to come round have a cup of coffee and take the baby for a while - good therapy - sometimes just talking to another IRL can really help. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Sorry to hear that. Some days are just like that. At 7 weeks Elle was awake for 22 hour straight. She barely slept during the day between 3 weeks and 11 weeks and was totally miserable so there must've been something not right in her system. We tried everything...docs, paeds, naturopaths, cranial osteopaths etc etc and nothing helped except time. Our case was unusually severe but the morale is that it often does just take time. Elle is a very normal, healthy child now.
Plunket was our saviour during that time so maybe give them a call and see if they can help. ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

Thanks everyone. I think she must have had a tummy ache as we gave her a bath and warm boiled water which managed to settle her and we ended up having two 4hr sleeps which is really good for her! Keziah was like this at that age too, she was very unsettled during the day due to wind, and sometimes at night too..
Gripe water didn't seem to help and then a friend of mine suggested I try Infacol, so I did and we haven't looked back. Although now Miss K pretty much burps herself s soon as she sits up, but the Infacol is still on hand if we need it at any stage  -------------
