Hi ladies
sorry if this is TMI!
I have noticed this morning when I go wees that it stings a little and I am really hoping that its not the start of a urine tract infection!
What can you take if you do get one and any suggestions? do I need to go to the Dr?
Just trying to have lots of water in the mean time!

Cranberry juice is great and will help but is more of a preventitive (orevents 50% or UTI's).
When do you have your next M/W appointment? It will show up when you do your urine test but if you are worried and it continues to hurt, go.

LOL I never knew that about Cranberry juice! What is it that can lead to thrush? The sugar content??
Interesting! I get candida really easily so theoretically I shouldn't eat sugar or yeast products etc but nup...they taste tooooo good.
Sorry OT.
As for the stinging, I'd recommended getting it checked out

Just consulted Google and found that unsweetened cranberry juice is used to curb or prevent thrush so perhaps for some people it is just the sugar in the sweetened version that is the problem. There are always exceptions to the rule.

I swear by Ural sachets for UTIs.
Much cheaper than a visit to the doctor.
But the doctor is probably the safest bet

I couldn't handle cranberry juice but you can buy cranberry tablets from health food shops - they do the same job and much much easier to take than a whole glass of juice

good on you for making a dr's appointment. he/she will probably give you antibiotics which will kill the bacteria. cranberry juice does help in the meantime. i've never had thrush problems with it so you could try. it is important to see the dr because sometimes if untreated a UTI can turn into a kidney infection which is very dangerous for you and for the baby! or it can just become a bad UTI which, from experience, is very very uncomfortable.

You can take Ural safely, just watch when you get further along as I got a UTI but without any of the classic symptons because of the relaxin, didn't know I had it until I was in some major pain as it had become a kidney infection. So look for cloudy wees, is easier to get infections when pregnant also cos of the relaxin. I had two courses of antibiotics as I got a second infection just before I went into early labour (although was told it probably didn't cause it, as I caught that one early.)
