She was saying that my levels of HCG were quite low 292…I did some research…
According to an American website, the expected levels at my stage would be 132 mIU/ml (mill-international units per ml) and that another area said that expected levels for 1-2 weeks past conception is 40-300 mIU/ml. My level was 292 so I think the nurse is being overly cautious.
However, he was saying she thought it should normally be around 30 000!!!
I also found an NZ website that seems to measure differently and that website talked about the measurements in terms of 10’s of thousands…
And she did not say I wasn’t pregnant….
Great I’m going to be anxious all weekend….but I fail to see how I can’t be pregnant with 3 positive tests…and no period. And the feeling blah and tired etc.

hmmm sounds bizarre! i don't really know much about this i'm sorry paws.
i know this is really of no comfort and easier said than done, but try not to worry too much and relax over the weekend. 3 positive tests can't be wrong!

You guys are right. I'm just going to think about those 3 positives...
I don't know that she knows how to read those results...she stuffed up reading my husbands fertility results a few months back! And when I asked her some more technical questions her only answer was "I guess so".
Thanks for letting me freak out!

however two years later and my little boy is perfect (well some days anyway)...
its really only a guessing game for them so try and relax a bit...

Your levels sound fine! At 4w6d my levels were only 98, which is still within the normal ranges. As long as it is doubling it's fine. The problem is, we spend too much time on the internet and drive ourselves crazy!

Ohhhh that really makes me feel lots better!
I'm still ticked with that darn nurse...if she couldn't read the results correctly or understand them properly or answer my questions she should never have given me the results in the first place. grrrrrrrr
She really freaked me becuase when I asked what the low levels mean, could it be that I'm not pregnant she just said "oh i'm not sure". Instead she should have explained better about checking that the levels double etc etc...not leave me thinking I might not be pregnant!
Next time I think I'll just wait and talk directly to my doctor...she rocks at explaing everything properly and I don't have to go online to find the info out myself!
Thanks Maya!

No worries. Unfortunately because of what I do I know far too much about pregnancy and what can go wrong. So being pregnant is a nightmare for me. Sometimes ignorance is bliss...

Am with you on that Emma.... with doing nursing training and learning so much - pregnancy is so much scarier, life is so much scarier.... on one hand i feel more reassured that i could pickup if something wasn't right with my girls - then on the other... sometimes i get a bit worried and it's nothing... the good thing is... even just on seeing Paris's head the other day, it all came into play and i was like nup, no way... needs a stitch.. and it all felt worth it.

I know what you mean about nurses, i used to get given the wrong info and cld never understand what she was talking about either. But my mums best friend is a neo-natal nurse so i would go to her and ask, she would reassure me and explain things alot better. My midwife was hopeless at explaining as well, came across like she didn't know what she was talking about and couldn't even answer half of my questions. My HCG levels were lower than that at the beginning of my pregnancy so i am sure you are fine cos i ended up with a beautiful little(big) boy.

Damn medical training making us paranoid! I'm a bit like that with Hannah now too, worried she has some kind of neurological problem cos she does this or that!!

In some ways tho it's a good thing like Janine has said. I don't take any chances with Maya, I trust my instincts, and what I know. I was so naive first time around that I let myself get pushed around with what I did and didn't want during my pregnancy, and even after she was born with her allergies etc, so now I make a point of researching stuff (helps that I get paid to do it for a job ).
LOL at me tho - when I went to see the doc the first time when I started miscarrying, he asked me if I was a nurse because I knew so much about hCg levels and bleeding in pregnancy...

Well I got my second lot of results...the other nurse left a message on my phone saying "your results are in your doctor said they are all looking good".
So the other nurse had me worrying for nothing! It's a huge weight off my mind!
