It occurred to me today that it might be handy to have both a front carry thingy, and a backpack one...

Well I was thinking I'd use the front pack the most, but then I was carrying my laundry basket around today and I can only really have that in front of me, and so I wondered where I'd put bubs if I wanted to have him/her with me while I did housework etc. ------------- Jacquie - Mama to Erin, 13.07.06 - Chief Cat Chaser & Marmite Sammie Eater

the back pack is great for when bubs is bigger - i found it easier to carry the boys in also they got too heavy for the front pack and would slip down. Id end up with a bub just about hanging round my knees. Was a Kapoochi front pack too. Anyway the front pack was great for when they were little and then moved onto the backpack when they were able to hold their heads really well. Hope this helps

I had a ByeBye one that could be used as either a front or back pack. It wasn't the best, but did the trick and was great for lugging her around when she was grumpy, or when I was peeling veges etc. Even at the supermarket. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I have a bye bye one that i am currently selling on trade-me.... 
it can be used as a front pack, back pack and also on your hip. was great when we went shopping cos she was too little to fit in the supermarket trolleys! and yep, when peeling veges and doing dinner at the jungle hour too. lol ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

we only have a front pack at the moment and Joey loves it but I am starting to get a really sore back from it now - Joe already weighs 9kgs!!

I have a frontpack at the moment but am looking for a backpack as Xanda is too heavy and too big to be in the front pack. He now weighs 6.2kg at 6wks, little fatty. It came in handy when he was smaller tho. with a backpack tho,they have to be able to hold their head up before you can really put them in one. ------------- http://www.bump-and-beyond.com/">

Yeah when we were at doctors yesterday, there was another baby there and his mum said that he had just had his 6month shots, Xanda was nearly bigger than him. Xanda has never looked like a newborn, he looked about 1month old when he was born. ------------- http://www.bump-and-beyond.com/">

I had a frontpack with Alex for the first few months but he got too big for it & so off I went & bought a backpack. It was great coz we took it to the Mystery Creek fielddays last year & Spencer carried Alex in it all day. I'd see if you can borrow a front pack from someone as they are in use for a short time.
I've got a home made one. It was OK but could only put Han in it facing me and she got pissed off because she couldn't see anything. Anyone used baby slings? They always seemed like a neat alternative to a front pack but I haven't heard much about how people have found them |

I'm selling my ByeBye on trade me too. Have gotten a bit obsessed and decided to get rid of a lot of my baby stuff so I can buy new stuff for our next baby (shhhh! Don't tell Willie!).

| Lots of japanese woman had baby slings. The ladies are geneally tiny, but some of the babies...are not shall we say. They looked kinda uncomfortable to me, but apparently are great. Mum said she'd make me one, but wants to get a decent pattern first. |

I had one that faced inwards, and then someone lent me one which went both ways, it was awesome and I used it up until Ella was 9 months.. then I had a backpack which someone had given us, used that up until she was about 13/14 months.. she's too heavy for me to carry in that now though! (She is still quite little, not even 10 kg yet! - omg Ana, Ella and Joey probably weigh the same!!)
