Yesterday morning Xanda had his 6wk shots. My mum warned me that the day after they have them is usually the day they are really grumpy. Well Xanda has been the complete oposite, he has not been sleeping very well in the afternoons lately, but today i have had to wake him twice for a feed. Should I be worried?

Hiya...I think its the meningitis shot that makes them sleepy.Didnt do it to Brooke but made my 3yr old boy real sleepy when he had it.......If it stressing you then ph the healthline or plunket line and have talk to them.I think it normal though. How are you finding being a mum???My little girl is 9wks3days old.....We been bit stressed with her....hasnt been very easy going but getting heaps better now

I find it stressful at times and then sometimes hard, but have decided just to relax and take things as they come. There are also the times when i am so proud and happy, and those times usually cancel out the bad times. They say it takes a few weeks to settle into a pattern and routine and have a bit of a easier time. My mums friend is a neo-natal nurse and was just telling me it is usually the 12wk shots where they become more unsettled and after the 6wk shots they are usually sleepy, so i really looking forward to the 12wk ones now.

Sounds like you've got it sorted now but it sounds pretty normal. As long as he is alert and otherwise happy when he does wake I don't think you should worry.

Bailey was the same.. He slept well all day and night with his 6 week ones! unfortunatly his 12 week ones were a different story and he was very grumpy he has just has his 5 month ones and he was fine with these ones!

So with everyone Ive talked to it sounds pretty normal! but if you are worried though ring plunket line or healthline like roxy said

Take Care

Thanks guys, i rang the plunketline and they said as long as he not lethargic then he is fine. He was full of beans everytime i got him up so i not worried anymore, plus he was back to his normal self last nite, waking every hour.

Roxy - Joey was terrible at 6 week ones but great at 3 month ones... Never can tell!!!

Fairsk8 - Did you give your wee man any pamol because that makes them sleepy too, might have just been that....

Na no Pamol, he didn't seem to need it so I didn't give him any.
