Hi,

I'm about to become a new time Mum sometime near the start of April & wanted opinions on the Safe T Sleep. Is one a must have? And come you buy them 2nd hand & if so what should I look for.   Looking forward to getting some feedback.

Thanks,

Merrin

Hi mercat,

I have one for my son and I wouldn't be without it. The couple of times it has been in the wash he was a nightmare to get to sleep! I never used it in the bassinet - only once he went into a cot. He still uses it now. For me personally, it was a great buy and I don't think buying one second-hand would be a problem at all.

Hi Mercat, Welcome to OB!

We have got a SafeTSleep for Ollie and I think its fantastic! He is a little wriggle bum, so at least by using it I know he is going to settle down well and in the same spot! We have used it since he moved into the cot, but we didnt use it in the basinett (we wrapped him in the basinett, but dont anymore).

If you were going to buy one 2nd hand, the only thing I would check is that the velcro still has a lot of "stick" left in it.

Good Luck!

I was given one when preggers and have never used it so could sell it to you cheap as! It's not brand new-I'll pull it out of the cupboard and check the stickability, as SimSam suggested. PM me if you're interested

I swore by them with my girls, and will use one again this time round. IMO it's not really worth buying them second hand coz they are comparatively expensive compared to what they are new. A friend of mine had her mum make her one using an original one as a pattern.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. Looks like I'll be adding one to my must-get list :)

yeah, I wasn't going to get one until we woke up one morning to a banging sound - it was Anyssa's head against the cot bars! She also was rolling onto her tum and getting stuck there and not going to sleep.

They would be easy to make if you could borrow one to use as a pattern.

I never got one and wouldnt bother. We used a wedge and found that great. Friends kids have been able to escape the safety sleep even when pinned, and from quite a young age (just under 6 months for one).
