How well do you know your neighbours??

We have 3, the old man next door we talk to often and i'm feeding his cat this weekend and I don't mind doing it for him. He's lived in the street since it was made a street so knows an awful lot about this area.

The ones on the other side, we hav the annoying one in the front house who are finally moving out *YAY*, and the ones out the back I knew before we moved in here as I often had smoke breaks with the her at Massey. I can go to them out the back for anything and they have helped me out a bit over the past few years.

When I was growing up we always knew our neighbours and it was so cool to have BBQ's etc with them.

I know all our neighbours - and we have heaps of them. We have an old man out the back who doesnt want us to cut down the big overgrown fejoa tree cos its good for his garden underneath it. We have 2 down one side - one is my late granny's cousin and husband, so know them quite well, tho they once rang up and asked when we were going to mow our lawn. The ones in front of them are elderly as well, he is really nice and brings up beans from their garden, she isnt very friendly. On the other side we have two flats - nice oldish lady in the front, and a middle aged man in the back (we went to school with his son). They are both nice. AND, backing onto our section are a lovely couple - she is a beauty therapist so go there every now and then, and she is really nice has offered to come over in the night if we get stuck for someone to watch Han when I go to the hospital.

The lady across the road sold us our house and my cousin is just a few houses around the corner.

Don't know one side of our neighbours, they are middle-aged (I think?) pretty quiet mostly, bar having a few parties over summer, but are really considerate & turn the music down by 11:30pm & I don't mind their taste in music either.

The other side are an elderly couple that happily feed our cat for us when we go away. They are really quiet too so we're pretty lucky really! We don't socialise with our neighbours, but smile to each other when our paths cross.

We know the neighbours on both sides of us, our neighbours on one side have been here since the street was made too, and we know them well enough to collect their mail and stuff this weekend their cat thinks our house is his.

The ones on the other side moved in 6 months after we did and we know them to say hello to, they have an adult son and 2 persian cats.

We all have cats and I probably spend more time talking to them than the people.

We know the neighbours on one side. . They have a fish and chip shop and have been in Nz for a few years. The other side is a group of pensioner flats and we look out for them if there is trouble but that is about it

We have just recently moved, 1 side is a lovely old man, other side is a family with kids of a simalar age to ours he is really friendly but she will not give us the time of day... he was outside talking to us and she rang him on his cell phone to ask who he was talking too just after we moved in, I see her at kindy etc but she looks the other way, our friends lived here before us and she was the same to them hmmmm maybe she is really shy, and over the back are my parents best friend so chat to them all the time.

we have just moved too. the guys next to us are pretty loud - they have rehearsals, but were actually really good and asked me the other day if the music was too loud - it was only 4pm so i said, it was fine. they said to come over and let them know if the kids were going to bed or anything so they would keep it down. i was shocked frankly! could be something to do with the guys across the road going over and telling them to turn it down - but not in such nice words.

However, over the other side a bit, not directly behind us but over a bit is this woman with two boys - sooooo annoying!

Lol lizzle!

We have a lovely older couple next door, who we tend to keep a close eye on as he is not that well, and she doesn't drive so we try help out as much as we can.

On the otherside is a family who again are really nice (they have teenage children, so are pretty busy).

And directly up the back from us lives the local cop, and local police station. He knows my Dh well, as has watched him grow up. He pretty much keeps to himself though, and obviously no rowdy parties from him lol

We live in a little cul-de-sac with only 6 houses, and we all know each other. Its really nice! The lady directly next door to us has been there since her house was built 50 years ago, and is lovely. She lives on her own so we keep an eye out for her and DH helps her with odd jobs like moving furniture etc. We have 2 nice couples opposite us both with babies (14months and 16months) with another one on the way - the local plunket nurse thnks there is something in the water on this street .... she reckons that we alone almost keep her in business!!

We know a few of ours the people down the road are a couple with no kids and we only really know them to say hello, him more than her I think she is a bit shy(like me!!!) Our old neighbor who we were really good friends with had a little boy and my girls used to pop over there heaps, they moved out a while ago but we still keep in touch I miss them though as the new neighbors are pretty young. The girls who owns the house is a police woman and she has a couple of flat mate but they are really quiet.
Behind us is a young couple with a baby boy a bit younger than Alyssa. I know her name is Natasha and I think the baby is Noel but we have never spoken to them which is a bit of a shame as it would be nice to get to know them.
Across the road is our closest neighbor She knows everybody in the street, knows all the gossip as well but she would give you the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it. Her hubby is a plumber and he got us all our bathroom stuff at trade price when we bit our reno's.
Then there are the others with kids the same age as ours on the street Alex has three friends on our street and Natasha has one so that's really cool for the big kids, and very handy when I need to palm them off for a few hours to go shopping.

We say hi to our neighbours when we see them but thats as far as it goes. I'm shy so I wouldn't just pop over there for a chat or anything

Our house is right down the back of the driveway, so private and quiet. At the front are 4 nana flats, 3 woman and one grumpy man, I get on well with one of the nanas, and Lucy and I call her nana monica.

Over the fence are Adam's parents, they are on a different road though, bery handy for babysitting or to borrow the odd onion!

Then over the other fence, we have a couple in their 60's, they have been there for ages, good neighbours

We have an elderly couple on one side of us. They are really lovely, the first week we lived here we had gone out and left washing on the line, she didn't want it to get damp so took it off the line for us They have lots of family coming and going and they are all really friendly.

On the other side we have a couple with kids (not entirely sure how many, maybe 6??) again they are really nice (he is a cop) and I'll stop and chat to her over the fence.

Behind us we have an older couple (maybe in their 50's) and they will often mow our back lawn (I actually think its because it makes their house look nicer, but I'll take it ) once again very friendly and will often stop for a chat.

Our street actually gets together every xmas for a pot luck dinner/bbq so everyone gets to know each other. Unfortunately every time its been planned we already have plans, so haven't met many of the extended neighbours.
