Hi, this isn't PND related but I thought this was the best place to put it.
DH gets ringing and dizziness in one ear (so bad that he can't do anything/throws up etc) and the specialist can't work out what's causing it so he's given him some anxiety medication. He said that it's addictive so not to use it everyday.
I'm just wondering if anyone would mind telling me what anxiety meds they are on. DH has been given LORAZEPAM 1mg.
He's a bit nervous about using it cause of it being addictive, but then he's so sick of this ringing/dizziness!!
Thanks

I would have thought that for that kind of thing they'd just give him a straight anti-emetic instead of anti-anxiety medication? And it sounds a little to me like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BPPV - BPPV , which can only be treated for the side effects. AFAIK any kind of benzodiazepine (like Lorazepam) can be very addictive, so hopefully your husband's ear problems are short term. It's good that it's a low dose though, and here is a Wikipedia link on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorazepam - Lorazepam . Hope that helps!

Thanks Pearls
He's been given anti-nausea meds and had an MRI (which came back normal). I think he'll go back to the specialist. The next step was to give him grommets

Ive been given lorazepam before when i had to fly cos i was a total nut case. to be honest i didnt think it did much but then i might have not even flown if i didnt take it so who knows. i was also told it was adictive so not to take it often and was only given enough pills to get me there and back and Ive been given it for two different trips. Strange they have prescibed it for those sort of symtpoms though
