When would/did you take your child into a spa pool or thermal pool like hanmer springs?

Me personally not until they were at least 2. I have enough trouble breathing in those pools, and I'd hate to think how hard it would be for them. Also the water would be way too hot for them.

Just on a side note - is it safe for us pregnant gals to go in the hot pools (not too hot of course) I really need to get away and the BF suggested hamner.

I'm pretty sure there's a temp you should avoid - not sure what it is... ask your MW maybe? I think it's because babies can't regulate their body temp.

I took my daughter in but not for very long - and it was a private spa not a public one.

Same with being pregnant - went in but not for long.

I have a spa at home and when pregnant i diddn't use it but my friend has just been told that it is ok at a lower temperature than normal but for like only 5 minutes at a time. I thought whats the point for only 5 minutes so stayed out of it.

I go in the spa at the public pool's alot but only for a short amount of time the way I see it it is no hotter then a bath would be. Both my boy's go in as well. We have minral pool's here in NP I never wnet when I was pregnant, but I think i would you only in for a short time and as long as you don't get too hot I think it would be fine never asked anyone tho so could be wrong.

An at home spa pool would be ok, I have heard of people that have taken their babies in with them froma young age.

We took Maya to Palm Springs at about 15 mths, the hard part was keeping her head out of the water coz you're not supposed to go under. I also went while I was preg and just used my judgement when to get out if I was feeling too hot. I found it really relaxing.

Alyssa has been going into our home spa since she was about six months old and she loves it. We took her to Waiwera over the xmas break as well.
As long as it's not too hot it should be ok after all kids start swimming lessons in heated public pools at about 4 months
I wouldn't put her in a pool over say 36-37 degrees as it would probably be far too hot for a baby and they can't let you know. We have had our spa turned down over summer so it's just luke warm so a great place for a cool down in this sticky weather.

I read a thing yestereday about taking your child for swimming lessons and it said it is o.k take babies in public swimming pools after 6 months as there immunity has become strong enough and immunisations have generally started to kick in by then.

It did say that it is common for babies to have a skin reaction to chlorine though.

The caution with preggy mums and hot pools is the extra bacteria because of the heat.

I asked our Dr if we could go in ours when we become pg and he said fine as long as it's not too hot and kept clean.
We've had my cousins boy in ours since he was about 14months or thereabouts. We just try and stop him from drinking it!!
