I think I put my back out somehow when I picked up Kryssi this morning. It seemed to come slowly better for a little while but now it's quite stiff and hurts particularly when going to stand/sit/bend over. I have tiger balm (deep heat) on tonight but is that all I need to do?

That sounds like what I've done to mine.

I'm going to the chiro to fix mine.

He told me tiger balm is useless. Antiflam is apparently the best thing for it, anything with arnica in it.

Have you thought of going and getting checked out to see if you need it put back in?? I delayed going for a couple of weeks which has only made things worse for me.

Antiflamme rocks, it's got the same stuff in it they use on horses after races lol but it does the trick. If it's just muscular you should try and keep it moving as much as possible to stop it seizing up but if you think you've damaged a joint you should see a doc and get checked out so they can refer you on. I ended up with 10 weeks on ACC and an ACC carer in my home the last time I did my back, I popped my sacro-iliac, L6 and L7 joints all from just twisting the wrong way in the gym.

Have you got a wheat bag? A bit of heat on it would be good, Antiflamme is AWESOME. You could try gently stretching/realigning it by standing facing a flat surface about hip height or a bit higher (kitchen bench, windowsill or high-ish table), place both hands on the end and walk your legs back so that you are at 90degrees bent over. Keep your head level with your back and gently stretch out through your arms/torso. Your back should be straight, make sure you don't arch your back or bunch your shoulders. Keep your legs straight. It's a really gentle stretch but does wonders for my back.

Thanks everyone, I don't have arnica etc so I've had a bath, tiger balm is next (gotta be better than nothing?!), wheat pack, bed... see how I am in the morning.
