Subject: Ginger vs The Husband - Please Vote!
Date Posted: 19 February 2008 at 4:21pm
Ginger and The Husband have gone to war Again! Hehe.

The husband said I was allowed to buy some winter boots, and I found some fab ones today, except he thinks they're weird. But, he's agreed (kind of) to bow to public opinion if it goes against him, so I'm rallying the troops!! Clever husband - he's making me run it for a week, just in case it's an impulsive thing and I'll get bored

Please, please, puh-leeeeeeease go to my blog and vote (for me, obviously! Unless you think I really have gone bonkers of course.)

Voted!
Totally the coolest Ginger...
I have similar red ones, with rainbow stripe velcro fasteners. I LOVE them, super comf-y and people always comment on them (and how they would never be brave enough to wear them)
Go on, buy them NOW - (not that you need the encouragement!)

GandT ... you can actually fold the tops down so that the polka dots are on the outside But, since you voted for me, I'll pretend I won't do that if I win and I'm allowed them

They're for casual only Nikki (they're not reeeaallly good legal office shoes! ) and they would go perfectly with jeans for winter, and I have a hoodie which is brown but has red polka dot fabric inside! Hehe!! They'd even go with all my winter jerseys and wil make my super old comfy sloppy jeans look very cool.

(Yes, and justifying flat out!!)

ALSO! They're nice'n'wide in case my IVF works and my feet get fat. Hehe. I was too scared to try them on in case I bought them, so I lusted from a distance. Knowing my luck, I'll win the poll (not looking likely at this point - sad!!) and then they won't fit
Could be wrong though!! But, rules are rules. The husband made me promise, and he's so good, I have to be honourable

I don't mind them actually.
Not my style at all but who said I had any style anyway.

You should see the boots I used to wear in my "Surfie Chick"/ "Cook Street Market" hippie clothes days. They were pretty similar in shape but had big hand painted purple flowers on them.

Anyway I voted for you. If you love them and will wear them go for it.

Fresia!! That's just being close-minded!!

I forgot to say Nikki that I'm a bit the same re the work vs home wardrobe. I work more or less full time, 5 days a week, so I have lots of worky clothes and a basic shell of weekend clothes eg. I have 2 pairs of shorts (there are 2 days in the weekend, 1 for each day! This only falls down in xmas holidays where I have to wash them a LOT) buuuuuttt, althoguh I know I'm being a complete fool, I'm thinking to when I may be home next year, with a mini-me, and I'm putting a few things away. IVF is next month. I know I'd never in a million years be able to afford stuff on our single wage (yay for the mortgage just going up $500 a MONTH!! ), so I've made a list of sorts and been tucking things aside. Just basics. There was a pair of jeans a few months ago, a pair of sneakers on sale about a month ago, a new pair of sunglasses at Christmas. I want to get a nice winter jersey or 2 (or 10, but you know, 2's good!). That sort of thing. Al has bought me a new handbag for my birthday. I got a gorgeous 'weekend' top/floaty shirty thing yesterday on sale - $270 down to $30!! That'll be fab next summer!

So, obviously, the husband and I are taking the boot thing seriously because these may be boots that go a lot of places with me for the next few years!

And, I know it's silly, but it's keeping my mind occupied. I even did a wardrobe inventory the other day when I was pacing the carpet threadbare as realisation that the IVF cycle may only be 2 weeks away from starting kicked in

There is no way I'd let them anywhere near my wardrobe but I love shoes so much that I generally never walk out of a shoe store without two pairs (last time to please DH I bought one pair and layby'd the other so technically I only walked out with one pair) so for your amazing self restraint I think you totally deserve them.

I voted the last option GOOD LUCK

Redbedrock! Honestly, I'm amazed that I'd never come across the brand before they opened their Newmarket store. Apparently they're fabulous and last forever! A friend of mine was telling me that her black Camper boots have done her 5 winters, wearing them all the time!

That suits me down to the ground because although I loooove new clothes, I hate buying new shoes. Adored shoes should last forever! You can never ever find the same thing again either once they wear out

And that's why you should always buy two pairs you adore because then you can alternate and they last longer.

If you love them then you should have them. I never find shoes I love, if I did I would buy them no matter what! Imagine if when choosing your DH you were told by people that he wasn't the best looking DH and you shouldn't have them. You would have chosen him because you loved him, not because he went well with your clothes!

And OMG, I am so out of the loop about your IVF, I will have everything crossed for you!

Ooooohhhh ... I like that argument miss! My parents were against me marrying the husband initially so I can remind him of that and say that I married him no matter what and that's turned out ok! (Hehe. Well, he might not think so in the midst of this boot business!)

I usually end up buying shoes I like, and trying to get them on sale as much as humanly possible. I even try to wait until last-gasp sales (I love how some boutique shoe stores get right down to about $20 towards the end!!). But, if I go head over heels, all bets are off.

You can't believe the IVF thing? I can't believe Lily is over 7 months old!!!!!!!!!!

Ok. The verdict is in. Almost. I think the poll runs out at the end of today ...

BUT!

Regardless of the result, after all that, I've decided to be really good and not buy them. I love them, but a winter coat would probably be a better buy, adn even if I bought another pair of sneakers, they're not going to cost what the boots do so it'll help the budget along.

I think the husband is expecting me to run out today and get them, so he'll be surprised when I come home empty-handed. Unless I find a coat of course!

How else could I better spend $440? Plus, everyone falls off their chair at the price so I feel really embarrassed! As I probably *should* feel.

Good on you, Ginger. It's a real sign of grown upness when you just can't quite justify spending that amount of money on something - usally shoes, in my experience, as a fellow lover of expensive (and non practical) shoes... You do however, deserve to buy something!
