According to my midwife there is no truth in that rumour but IME more first timers seem to be late.

I heard that most woman take after their mums. Mine was early with all of hers.
I was surpised at how many are on time. Are we talking actual due dates or give or take a few days because I thought it's very rare to have your baby on their EDD?

Kiya was probably early (based on appearance at birth, we've no idea when she was actually due)
Josiah was born on his due date
Xavier was born 15 minutes after his due date... so if he hadn't sat around for half an hour 4mm away from crowning he probably would have been born on his due date
Nat and I were both born on our due dates

My mum went early with all 4 of us but she had premature rupture of membranes every time which I've never had. Maya was early.

That's what I got told too, that it's rare to have them on your due date... no one told Conor that though.

I expected Michaela to be early but I was hoping to have the weekend off before she came but instead I left work early on the Friday and had her that evening.

It is a very interesting poll. Out of the girls in my coffee group 5 were early, 1 came on their due date & 4 were late.
I'd heard that 1st time Mums usually delivered late so I was fully prepared to go over my EDD but baby came 6 days early.

i dont think the poll is very accurate - the results for the last one kept changing, higher, then lower... etc....

Mind you if you take into account the inductions and C-sections that will push it up.

My mum had three babes two weeks late and then induced....and her fourth prob would've been too but she was an elective c-section at 38 weeks.
My first was 6 days late and my second was 1 week early. It's anybody's guess what this one will do!

It recalculates each time a new vote is received. I can view the back end stats and it is accurate.

Daniel was a week early but I was surprised as well as there's always lots of girls on here talking about how to get baby out because they are overdue

We got told at antenatal that most first babies were late. Then 7 of us went early and 4 were late. A couple of us were induced early/had c-sections due to complications, so I guess that pushes the early figures up. Might be a different story if the poll asked how many people went into spontaneous labour with their first early/on dates/late.

would that be why the "on time" category has gone down from when i looked at it earlier today?

I guess it would...the percentages are proportional so if one goes up the other goes down...

maybe there should be an 'early by intervention' option cos I guess a lot of the early ones bubs might not have actually been ready but for medical reasons were delivered. Kobe was spontaneous prem labour but Addison (although not my first) was early but she was induced.

that's a good point robyn......jack was a week early because he was breech, so i had him by elective c/s
charli was a week overdue, despite my m/w telling me i wouldn't have to worry about being overdue!
