Bugger - I have caught a cold - sore throat, blocked nose, sneezing and sore head - all this to go with feeling tired anyways!

I was looking at some old posts and they said that lemsip was about the only thing you can take - is this still true!?

When I was really sick with my last pregnancy, I was told I couldnt take anything even lemsip! So I made my own lemon drink, you know the lemon and honey one and put some vinager in there aswell, then crushed a panadol into it. It helped a little.
Im sorry your feeling yucky, that really suck! I think vicks is ok to sniff tho? I did when iw as sick this pregnancy, put vicks on a hanky and sniffed it, it helped my nose a lot.

You pretty much just have to ride it out unfortunately! I just took Panadol when I felt unwell!

I've taken Panadol too but no lepsip although the active ingrideint is the same - paracetamol. Check with your m/w or GP.
And get lots of rest, hope you feel better soon

I took Propolis throat lozenges which were great! Also took Naturopharm Coldmed Relief, which got rid of it quicker. Both were recommended by my MW.

Stick to hot lemon and honey drinks chickee... and try rubbing vicks on your feet then putting socks on each night. I know its hot, but that trick always works for when I have the flu.

I was told no strepsils by my midwife. Sorry, but you could try sucking a spoonful of honey

Tammy when I had a cold the pharmacist said I could have strepsils lemon(the plain basic one), but not the strong ones, they did jack Sh*t, So in the end i just sucked on the vicks vapour drops and they helped some what. But my sore throat was so bad that I could hardly swallow without crying

Oh, poor things. I got a really bad cold during my first trimester and felt rotten. I found some natural remedies that worked so well I now use them if I ever get a cold even though I'm not pregnant.

Firstly for your sore throats get some comvita throat lozenges (from supermarket or pharmacy). They're fine to take during pregnancy as they're not 'medicated' instead they're full of active manuka honey which is a natural antibiotic.

Other things I'd do are:

1) bed rest
2) vicks on you feet (like mamawendz suggested - sounds weird but it works for babies, kids and adults alike)
3) hot lemon, honey and ginger
4) grapefruit juice
5) hot blackcurrant juice
6) chicken soup made with lots of garlic and veges (there's a nice pouch chicken soup you can pick up in the fridges of the supermarket)
7) eat lots of fruit

So moral of the story is: bedrest, liquids, natural vitamins and natural antibiotics will help you feel better soon.

I rang up Strepsils the other week as my throat was so sore, they said that they are fine to take in pregnancy. I think there could be one type that you have to avoid - but orange and lemon flavour are fine

Pineapple juice is supposed to be good for the sneezing.  not sure why but I was told this when I was pregnant.  Not sure if it worked but helped to keep fluids up.
