At my last check, Meep was still hanging out wrong-way-around; "he's" toyed with both transverse and breech positions but I have a strong suspicion that we're currently breech.
MW said if the presesntation still isn't "right" by Tuesday (my appt with her) then we'll be booking an ECV in for Thursday. Has anyone had one of these? What should I expect?  ------------- Margo |

Yeah they turned toby twice and i was at the womens assessment unit at auck hosp a couple of weeks back to turn baby girl too - but she did it for me... Because you have had a child already i dont think it is as bad as if it had been your first. They may or may not give you something to relax your uterus, they didnt with me as it wasnt my first child... they'll do a scan first and then manipulate the baby right way round from the outside. it felt a bit weird but it didnt really hurt, due to the amount of room in there i suspect! Oh and i have negative blood so had to have the anti D too... Unfortunately the first time they turned toby he turned himself back, he was transverse. So we had to do it again and that time they kept me in overnight so they could see if he was the right way up by morning and luckily he was. If they do it at the WAU at auck they will monitor baby first for about half an hour - then scan you - then turn - then monitor baby again before sending you home. If you have any specific questions then feel free to PM me or ask here ... I hope meep finds the right way round for you tho. I also had a EVC (unsuccessful) with #3 (that would be Rhyley)
They did a scan first to see what breeched posiiton he was in, then the doctor pushed his bottom up from the bottom while trying to push his head so he did a flip in the womb. It didn't hurt just more uncomfortable. There was no way he was going to turn though - not alot of room in there and every time the Dr pushed his bottom his head would go into my ribs (where is head was firmly stuck into) so they gave me ventalin to breath in (this relaxes the uterus) checked the scan again (same place) Then after half hour on ventalin the Dr tried to move him again - but nope Rhyley was not going to comply... so I was booked in for a ceasar - as i was 36/37 weeks and the position he was in they highly doubted he would turn on his own. ------------- Ann

If you have had irritable uterus in your previous pregnancy, or you have it now, make sure your midwife is aware of it... it reduces the likelyhood they can successfully turn baby, as your uterus will be too busy contracting at every movement to relax properly.
Jackson is currently breech, and I am not a good candidate for an ECV given my well-established history of irritable uterus ------------- Becca, mum of 2 girls & 3 boys |

Becca - lucky for you you have plenty of time for bubs to turn. brooke was breeched at 32 weeks but by the next visit had turned and in perfect position - and she was my easiest birth no problems getting her out. ------------- Ann

I had an ECV with my first child and I had two specialists try to turn baby around without success unfortunately so had to be booked in for c-section. ------------- Sebastien 2 years old Olivier 3 3/4 years old |

I had a successful ECV with my first pregnancy. Similar to GandT's experience - but I found it really uncomfortable as I don't think there was a huge amount of room in there. I think it was that they were pushing on your skin while they were trying to move bubs - kind of like chinese burn type action but not as painful as that if that makes sense?? ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

i had an ecv with jack and found it rather uncomfortable.......it didn't work so i was booked in for c/s at 39wks
