Just when I thought my life couldn't SUCK anymore, I ended up at North Shore Hospital last night with excruciating pelvic pain!
All signs say I'm about to or have just ovulated, and the pain is in the same place as it has always been but this time it felt like someone was drilling a red hot poker through my ovary!
We spent 4 hours in the waiting room listening to some guy snore then eventually got to see the on-call gnae.
2 internals, swabs, poked and prodded, blood tests etc later (oh and "no we don't do after hours ultrasounds" (why not?!?!?).... All tests came back inconclusive! oh yay!
I'm now sitting at home, drugged up to the eyeballs waiting for my specialist to call me back to decide when I have the laparoscopy I've been desperately trying to avoid
I'm just really really scared that I've left it too long, looking for alternatives to the op, and that things are a lot worse now than they were when I first saw Spec last August!

I'm so sorry Toni, but there is no other way to conclusively diagnose endo than by surgery. Your bloods won't show the lesions, and because it is outside your uterus, ultrasound won't either - these things will discount other things though. Plus, it can hide in fully little crannies around the place too. Endo can unfortunately get progressively worse which may be why you are finding that to be the case.

It may be worth thinking about the op as a way to give yourself a clean slate to investigate other remedies to keep it from recurring. Plus, it will give you a good year or so for when you decide to start TTC again to make sure your body is in tip top shape. It can take time to recover from the op.

Thinking of you - it's really miserable!

Oh no! Good luck with it all.

Is it not normal to get really bad O pain? Can it mean something bad?

It can be quite normal Jennz - it tends to indicate endo on or around the ovaries. I had it on mine, and I could track my ovulation almost to the hour! Helpful for TTC and learning your cycle but that's about it!

Toni's I'd say is pretty impressive though.

The other thing you need to consider Toni is the delicacy of the surgery - if there is lots of it around your organs, particularly your ovaries, it's better to get it before it goes nuts.

GRR!!! Snooty receptionist won't let me talk to the spec and I can't see him until tomorrow lunchtime!
WTF am I supposed to do in the mean time!?!??!
Hosp Gnae said to follow up with spec and have an ultrasound ASAP

So much for resting at home! The guys are here to replace the kitchen benchtop (3rd time!) and are banging and drilling

Just had a call from my LOVELY specialist!

Was all very nice and very surprised I wasn't kept in hospital (was offered - but if they won't/can't do anything what's the point!?!? Btw the "bed" was in the corridor not a ward! )

Anyways - going to see him tomorrow to talk more about the op and book a date.

Wonder if he can do a tummy tuck at the same time?

P.S
Pain meds have kicked in very nicely

aww Toni lets hope the specialist gets to the bottom of it... I had simliar pain when i was 16 - it turned out to be a cyst (and very flared up tunored cyst) Not that what i just said was reassuring - just wanted to say it could be something different to endo.

I have had a lapercopy (amongst other things) and swt as you just feel full of wind for a few days LOL...

Blardy drugs! I was pain free but vomited ALL NIGHT (anti-nausea drugs made me feel worse) and felt like someone had removed my head and put it on a shelf out of reach I think I would rather be in pain than go through that again lol

Just got back from seeing my gnae. Am booked in to have op in 2 weeks, would have been next week but my health insurance people insist on 5 working days so that they can approve cover *inserts many swear words at health insurance co!* Southern Cross give pre-approval over the phone!

I got a bit teary in the consult when he said he was hoping we would have been able to avoid the op and have another baby, but that's not gonna happen for us for quite a while so we just have to get on with the op

I'm trying to be positive that the op will fix things for the pain now and for TTC in the future - just a bit hard at the moment as DH and I were really looking forward to having another baby now

Boo hoo poor me! *rolls eyes at self* Hope everyone else is having a good day and enjoying the sunshine

yes we were going to try - but have had massive issues with my mum which has meant Caitlin is in Day care and we can't ask Mum to look after the #2 because she isn't even looking after #1 which she agreed to do until Miss C started Montessori in July!!!! very long story to that. So NO we aren't trying now, not for a couple of years at least. Which is probably a good thing as I haven't actually ovulated for 2 months in a row either.

Please excuse the mindless ramblings - went to GP this morning as I'm still not feeling right in the head. Apparently I'm having a reaction to the Tramadol pain relief which I took on Tuesday!
Apparently it's very common and I can look forward to feeling like this for at least another couple of days whilst it works its way out of my system! Oh the joys!
