Daniel has decided he won't let me feed him breakfast anymore so we are just giving him finger food and he's very happy with this and will eat quite a bit but I want to give him more than just his fav vegemite toast but I can't come up with any other breakfast ideas..
What else can I give him? What spreads can bubbas his age have? I know its a big no no for peanut butter, but what about honey? I have no clue! |

I dont know if honey is suitable until over 1yr because it may contain botulism or something

Hi my son loves finger food for breakfast as well. we usually give him slices/ halves of fresh or tinned apricot, pear. Nectrine, plum all the summer fruits also watermelon, rockmelon all the melons. We love fruit!!!
On toast he has avocado or low sugar jam or his fave marmite. Honey we are waitng to over 1 year as risk of botilitism (sp?) Does he like yoghurt?? this could be tricky if he doesn't like being fed!! -------------

No on the honey until over 1.
Banana, apple, pear (any fruit I guess). You could move on to things like crumpets, hot cross buns etc. ------------- Jen, Charlotte 7 & Kate 3

Like everyone said, no honey til they're one. You could put a little jam on the toast, or pate (if he'll eat it, good for the iron levels) or cruskets for a change. We do heaps of fruit here too - watermelon, peach, apricot, nectarine, banana (I squash and split it into the 3 sections, so its easier for him to hold, if you know what I mean?), plums, apple etc.
That is the meal he resists the spoon least, so I still gets lots of cereal and sometimes a bit of yoghurt into him before the finger food! ------------- DS (5yrs) and DD (3yrs) |

I can only get a teaspoon of food into him if I'm lucky at breakfast. He just gets really sh*tty and smacks the spoon away. Just not worth the fight.
I'm trying not to give him too much fruit because it seems to bung him up a bit |

What about mini sandwiches - quite thin ones made with all sorts of fillings ie cheese, luncheon, jam, mashed egg etc etc. You can also bake mini muffins etc and give those as finger food. Or tiny sausages and cheese sticks.
What do you have for breakfast? Gina seems to like the idea of eating the same as us and feeding her often works if she's happy we are having the same thing. ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

Dry weetbix - then he can hold it in his hand; jam on toast; you could try soggy weetbix (with a little hot water or milk) and let him at it with his fingers if you're brave! May be good to let him handle his own spoon too. -------------  |

I have egg on toast or cereal. I give him a couple of cornflakes to "eat" when I have those and he pulls the most funny face like wtf is that?!
I might try weetbix tomorrow. I don't care if he makes a mess because he does no matter what I give him hehe |

what about an egg yolk omlette with a little cheese tomato. He can use his hands to eat it or you can spread it on toast??? -------------

avocado is good. Lily so doesn't want breakfast - it is good you aren't stressing about it. -------------
