Now, before any of you go OMG you're so bad for smoking while you're pregnant, I do NOT wanna hear any of that. What I wanna know is this:
Before I got pregnant I used to smoke 30+ a day, when I got pregnant, I cut right back to 4, which I've stuck to (and am really proud of), and I woke up this morning, had one and puked my ring. Havent had the desire to have another one at all, which is REAL awesome - gave my smokes to mum and thats the end of it. Back to the point - those of you who did smoke, did this happen to you? I'm real pleased with myself actually, I didnt completely stop when I got preggers because of the extremely high stress I was going thru - and midwife advice (basically she said to me if I stopped real early, i'd have a misscarriage due to the extra stress.) Thoughts?

Well I think you have done really well considering you were smoking 30+ a day that is just awesome. I have heard of that happening to people while there pregnant and never go back to it again good luck to you.

That is a huge achievement, i was a smoker so know how hard it is to cut back like that.
I was actually the same MissAngel, i wish i could say as soon as i found out i was pregnant I just gave up straight away, it wasnt until a couple of weeks later that i fully quit, and I too "puked my ring out" as you put it so lovely haha.
But the important thing is that you've done really well to give up, Its definetly not as easy as people think , good for you, go spoil yourself with the money you would usually spend on smokes :-)

OK Dirty smoker here.
As soon as I found out I was pregnant with Andrew is stopped cold turkey just like that. The day after I stopped feeding him I started again. Stopped in October 2005 and went through my whole pregnancy with Josh and feeding him hating the smell of it.
Then in September last year me and DH had some problems and I started again. Not that many (5 a day) but still I am still smoking. I have day when I don't feel the ned to and days when all I want to do is smoke.
Good on you for doing it. It is hard to stop when you find out you are pregnant and the best thing you did was cut down (less stress on you and baby).

Shows how much I know about smoking, lol. I would've thought 4 a day was heaps... 30??? the 2 halves a day sounds reasonable, i would've thought 4 was alot for a non preggy person The smell of smoke has always made me headachey and nauseous, so I don't tend to hang around smokers.

Good on you! At first I thought just like you said about ranting at you, then I read on and found out you cut from 30 down to 4, and now none! From another dirty smoker I say well done!
I quit the day before I found out I was pg but had been cutting down to 3-4 a day beforehand. I've had 2 since Jack was born (while I was drunk) and had 2 puffs the other day which made me feel sick. What I don't get is why do I still crave them after about 10 months?

good one yah....when my girlfriend was pregnant, the doctor and midwife said that while she should cut down on what she was smoking, trying to quit in the first and third trimester wasnt adviced...the first trimester because the stress of it could be too much, and because by the third trimester baby will go through just as much if not more withdrawals than you and could end up having baby early..
but they never said why it was okay to give up during the second trimester.
I havent smoked for near on 10yrs and i still every now and then crave a smoke...especially if ive had a few drinks or a great meal

I stopped smoking 7 years ago and still have the odd craving. Sorry probably not what you wanted to know. I suppose the difference is it is only once in a blue moon and never strong enough that I would act on.
MissAngel my sister smoked through both her pregnancies and she did the puking up thing as well so I would say it is normal. Unfortunately it didn't entirely put her off.

Yeah unfortunately cravings last for years! (maybe forever? I don't know yet!) Although they've definitely lessened with time - I used to really crave every time I drank or had a bit of stress, now usually the only time I ever contemplate it is when I've had lots to drink (lots and lots) and other people are smoking. I had a drag on one just before xmas (much to dh's disgust) and it was foul So even though you might feel like it doesn't mean you'll enjoy it.
And MissAngel good on you for cutting down from 30 to 4, that's a great achievement

Yup, me too! I even made Willie go up the driveway to smoke coz the smell of it coming in under the door made me puke.
