Hi there, this has probably been bought up before but i hope someone can put my mind at rest For the past week i have had an excruciating ache in my pubic bone(like i have been kicked)it makes it really hard to walk and makes the top of my legs ache.Today after I changed the girls room around I walked down the hallway and was hit with a real sharp pain(like being stabbed)also in the pubic bone region. It almost made me dropI havent had it since but it sure gave me a fright.i have and appointment with the midwife tomorrow afternoon but was hoping to have my mind put at rest beforehand

I'm not a midwife or a doctor, but I had the same thing, and it really took my breath away ! I hate to say it, but I reckon it's par for the course along with all the other lovely growing pains *hugs* I know it's not pleasant though, and make sure to ask your midwife about it anyway.

Sorry but Jax is right, I never had that with my first but with my other two it was unreal, especially my last. half the time it actually felt like my pubic bone was going to split in two. There is a proper name for it but I can't remember. I think there might be a belt of some sort that you can wear to support your bump if it gets to painful, maybe ask your midwife.

Bet it was nice to have your mind put at rest. Someone should write a book detailing all of these odd things that are really common during pregnancy but your not usually told about, it would make like much easier.

Someone has, Vicky - it's called "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy", and it's all the stuff only your girlfriends would tell you... it's written by an American, so some of her advice is irrelevant, but it's still a funny read.

see I knew the second I typed that, that someone would say there was. Sounds like it would make good reading.

I had SPD really bad when I was preg with Maya, I found the support belt really uncomfy, but they gave me a tubigrip stocking to wear which did help (until it got too hot to wear it).
Also, sleeping with a pillow between my knees, and not sitting for longer thanabout 30 minutes at a stretch without getting up for a walk around (pretty easy when you have a dodgy preggy bladder!)

Would you believe the pains have gone and now I am severely constipated went and bought a heap of apricots yesterday to try the "natural" approach.Have been eating really healthy with this pregnancy to try and avoid this. Oh the joys of my last pregnancy..told my midwife that i am getting all these nastys this time so i dont regret not having anymore babies after this one

Another good thing I found during pregnancy was sultana bran, really good source of fibre and iron, and it doesn't taste to bad when you put sugar or bananas on it either. I know what you mean about the whole last pregnancy, my first two were natural and abby was a ceaser and we reckon the same, she was just making damm sure she stays the youngest. Good luck with the constipation, geez I don't miss that.

I had SPD bad with Ayja too - and i found the same - sleeping with pillows between legs was helpful - wearing a night-shirt so i could use that to pull and roll over because i couldn't do it myself. I also would crawl off the bed backwards, cos it hurt less to do that than to try and stand straight up. it sucks - good to hear the pain has gone for you - here's hoping it does not return.

This is regarding your topic about breastfeeding Tania. I'm waaaaay to lazy to go back and find it!

I'm back in Rotorua at the moment but haven't been able to talk to Carolyn (Manager at hosp) about the breastfeeding thing as she has just headed down to CHCH. I'll leave her a note and my email address and see what she recommends.
