I have been weaning abby off breastmilk and was down to a night feed. She is now sleeping through so no longer needs my feeds, I will admit to being in quite a lot of pain waiting for my milk to dry up. Is there anything I can do to speed things along? Also how long will it take? It's been along time since I had this problem and oh how the mind forgets.

you can get a homopathic spray. Or cold cabbage leaves in your bra is ment to help.

Not sure if cabbage leaves go with my outfit! Although they would be pre cooked for dinner. Actually not a silly idea my mother told me the same thing this morning. Might try the spray thing though, everytime I pick abby up its agony as she keeps banging me.

The cabbage leaves thing - its the whole, raw leaves that you use... I haven't (haven't needed to), but my mum did after my sister weaned and they helped her heaps. Mum would freeze the outer leaves (the tough ones nobody likes to eat) to get them nice and cold.

I havent fed Ryan and Katelyn for a couple of weeks now and havent had any pain at all. I have heard about the whole cabbage leaves thing but never had to try it also i would have to agree with what james said maybe this will help things not being so sore.
The whole drying up process can take a whole i think i remember with Blair i still had milk months after a had finshed feeding him.
Hope the pain gets better soon.

I had some help drying up from anesthetic from an operation but after I finished feeding Arna my boobs were huge and sore so I took a hot shower and just manually "took the edge off" - thats all I ever did and its all good now...

You will get told heaps of things so just try what you want to try and good luck!

Yep, I had cabbage leaves on when I had mastitis to help ease up my oversupply and cool down the heat from the infection, and they worked 100% better than anything else I tried (and believe me after 9 days in hospital I tried everything!)

Funny how they tell you not to eat cabbage while breastfeeding yet it helps you to stop breastfeeding.

I'm happy to say that most of the pain has now gone. I now have a new respect for cabbage, and my boys are relieved that they didn't hasve to eat it and it had another purpose. I also tried expressing just a little for comfort as James suggested and between the two I think I'm well over the worst. Thanks for all the suggestions.
