My SIL told me about this and I am keen to get one. Does anyone know where you can get them in NZ? I know you can buy them online but would rather pay less

I think that Porcelina used the Pink Kit with her birth... a November 07 mummy.

I never got round to using it, but my information was that it was a bit hippy but generally something my midwife was interested in. Her group had one and also my antenatal group had them to borrow, maybe there is some similar sysytem in hamilton. I still went with a very natural approach to my pregnancy and may well use it next time (if there is one). I can't remember my reasons for not getting hold of it, it may be just as simple as it not being in the library when I wanted it

Yeah, I was hoping no one would ask again cos I am soooo wooly headed tonight I can't remember properly.
BUT I seem to remeber it is a series of DVDs and reading to help natural relaxation and analgesia during pregnancy and childbirth. It's relaxation techniques, exercises, visualisation etc, I think it was developed by a group of midwives in Nelson and my midwife said if you can get [ast the hippy visuals in the DVD presentations then it is a really effective resource for [regnancy and labour. Don't know why it is called the Pink kit tho, nothing to do with wanting girls. I hope that's right as I am just too lazy to go and find my notes about it

I hired a kit from the 'Yoga Tree' in Auckland for a month. I wouldn't bother buying one unless you can get it second hand. Basically it's a book and DVD about preparing for birth. It goes over breathing techniques, positions for labour etc. It was okay, but I didn't feel that I learnt anything I didn't already know.

I borrowed it off my mw. To be honest I wouldn't rely on it totally!! but I guess it helped me understand a bit more of what would go on... the only bit I really remember is focussing on the particular pain and breathing thru it. Which kinda helped (at the beginning hehe)

I borrowed one from the library (the video) so it's worth seeing if your local library has a copy.

Some of the bits weirded me out (a lady in scary trackpants "mapping her bony pelvis" with her fingers while looking straight at the camera... creepy) but some of the other bits were interesting!

I borrowed it from my midwife. I wouldn't pay money for it but it's definitely worth getting if you can borrow it.
