My DD is just over 6 months old now and is doing well with the solids having 2 meals a day.

My question is how much milk should she be having? She seems to prefer having her solids to her milk.

What sort of feeding/sleeping routine do you have for your bubs!?

I was just talking to a karitane nurse about this today as I thought Tom was having a lot of milk as he has about 800mls plus a boob feed and 3 large solid meals. She said 600 was minimum and 1200 max, so anywhere in between sounded about right.

As for routine....I got sick of trying to offer milk right before solids as I thought you were meant to. Now we have milk on waking and then a bottle every 3-4 hours. I put the solids in at the appropriate meal time. eg Milk at 7am, breakfast at 8am and off to bed, milk at 11, lunch at 12, milk at 2 and off to bed, milk at 5, dinner at 6, bath, bed.

If I can squeeze another sleep in we do. He tends to like an extra bottle in the afternoon. I no longer need to feed him milk just before bed.

Thats us.....interested to know what others are doing.

I'm reading the CLB book but only following it as much as i want to. It says in there that baby should be drinking 800-900mls of milk minimum while introducing solids and then a minimum of 600mls once three solid meals are established. I had wondered about the milk/solids ratio as my girl is established on 2 solid meals a day and just starting the third now and as she is rather a plump baby I wanted to be sure I wasn't overfeeding her. I talked to our PN about it a few weeks back and she said not to worry about the ratio as long as Carys was getting minimum 600mls milk along with the 2 solid meals per day because she 'has a little in reserve' hehe!

So our routine is generally like this now -

7am - wake, full bottle
8am - solids
9-10am - nap
11am - 3/4 bottle
1pm - solids
1-2.30pm - nap
2.30pm - full bottle
*normally another half hour nap somewhere in here*
5pm - solids
6pm - bottle, whatever she'll take (normally 3/4)

So I'd say that Carys is having between 700 and 900mls of milk (formula) plus her solids meals per day.
