Thanks in advance for your help with this....

Ava is doing really well with her solids and is now having 3 meals a day. She starts off with museli (sp?) then for lunch I want to give her some finger food but I'm not sure what, this is where I'm struggling, she then has a jar of watties stuff for dinner as well as her milk through the day.

She had a slice of white bread with some banana earlier today and she ate the lot, so what other things can I give her??

I give Tom slices of pear or apricot in his freshfood feeder. Also rusks with vegemite on (he doesnt eat it but loves to suck the vegemite off....you have a kiwibaby...she's gotta get into vegemite or marmite

Nikki, do you give tom finger food without the feeder?

BabyKiwi, do you give ava finger food, bread and stuff? I want to give Kylah some but afraid she will choke, i gave her a banana the other day but when i 'lump' came off i got scared and put it in her feeder instead..

Finger foods that we gave Daniel at that age:

- mini vegemite sammies
- rice crackers
- pieces of fresh fruit
- wafers (like ice cream ones)
- vege chips like kumara, carrot etc
- slices of cucumber
- aria farm beef/lamb chips
- hash brown
- luncheon

Daniel didn't have issues with choking, sometimes he would gag but I'd just watch, if he looked like he wasn't going to sort himself out I'd just go tap his back, I've never had to dive into his mouth to fish anything out.

Pieces of apple and pear are quite good as well. Rice cakes and I found some organic animal crackers that go down well also cruskits, and as she gets better you can introduce things like grapes, strawberries etc.
Melon is great as well but a bit slippy so that might be one for the fresh feeder.

Spencer has gagged a few times but not choked, he has power chucked a couple of times from the gagging and I no longer give him rice crackers, he stopped just sucking them and started biting them and gagging on the bits. Just supervise and it'll be fine.

Daniel bites pieces of rice cracker off and doesn't have an issue with the trident ones but does with other varieties - weird aye?!

watermelon, rockmelon and bananas are popular fruit with Ella.. For the melon I normally cut up chunks and then put them in a bowl and let her play about with them (for some reason she likes to have a piece of fruit in each hand). Also cruskits are great...she has them plain but also with vegemite, avocado(sp) and a small amount of pate.

Thanks guys!!

I gave her the bread and banana cut up into tiny pieces and then fed off my finger. She did grab it but didn't know what to do with it!

I did try marmite but the face she pulled was a cracker!! She didn't like it!

Ava is good at chewing, how they learn to do that, it's amazing! So far she hasn't choked, gagged a couple of times. I just make sure that the food isn't too dry!

try vegemite she might have good taste. Actually Tom screwed his face up the first time which I found amusing. Next time I tried he sucked it all off and looked up for more.

Kandice, I have been a bit too chicken to try finger food without the fresh food feeder but realise I have to get over this or he will never learn.

Sam eats little marmite sandwiches, rice crackers, pieces of apricot, peach and nectarine, luncheon, chicken, cruskits, rusks and toast fingers for breakfast. I have tried him on apple a number of times but he ALWAYS chokes on it, one time to the point of screaming his head off and spitting wet apple pieces everywhere.

When they're a bit older you can try slices or chunks of cheese and raisins/sultanas
