OMG formula tins, I have millions of them (empty ones obviously lol). Can you recycle them? I looked at the tin and it doesn't have a symbol anywhere, would be great if we could otherwise I'll have to put them out with the rubbish. Do you know if you can or any other alternative dumping/recycling ideas as I hate the thought of all of this going to the landfill...

Emz I am sure I saw the same question posted a wee while back. Suggestions were- giving them to schools, using them to store stuff in the garage etc. Not sure where and how long ago it was posted, sorry!

I've been putting them into the recycling. I've just assumed that as they are aluminium that they can be recycled ... your local council should be able to advise

I gave all of the gremlins ones to Maya's preschool, they used them to plant seeds in, make stilts, store stuff in and various other uses (we got thru a LOT of tins lol!).

They can definitely be recycled. The Karicare tins have the recycling symbol on them. Otherwise as others have suggested, pre-schools etc would love to have them donated!

Daniels fav toy at the mo is a tin with a plastic ball inside. He uses it as a drum and bashes the hell outta it and shakes it like mad listening to the ball roll around inside. All the rest we recycle

yeah we used them to put stuff in the garage and cleaned out a few with the lids on and paris used to use them to make awesome towers with, we actually had enough cleaned out in the shed for a while that i really wanted to use them to make a cubby house out of, lolol.. but remembered that on the odd occasion that they did fall down. there was the potential for a bit of an owie if it fell on their head.

Yay recycling! I've used one for a food scraps tin (and clearly labelled it as DH is hopeless!), he doesn't need any in his garage (far more organised in there than in the house - typical male) and will keep a few when he's older for toys. Just seemed crazy that there was no recycling label. For now I'll put the ones I have out with the recycling, but might contact the kindergarten across the road at some stage to see if they want some and I'll save them for them. Thanks for the help, I so didn't want to fill my rubbish bag with them. I even asked my teacher friends if they wanted them but they obviously couldn't see the potential!

We made stilts with some of ours. They are just so strong, even an adult can go on them...
