How many weeks are you usually before baby starts to get into a routine sleeping pattern?
Since about Week 18 - Week 21 I noticed baby would start moving at routine times through out the day. 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm, 11pm. During the night movements were still too soft to wake me. So he/she seemed like they were getting into a routine. But since Friday I noticed that baby is totally out of that routine. On Friday I could feel baby moving from 10:30am-4pm non-stop. Then on Saturday I felt hardly any movements and ever since then they have been scrammbled all over the place? Is this just because the kicks are getting stronger and what I thought was a routine wasn't and I can just feel them more easily now? I was feeling this baby from quite early on reasonably regularly and then it basically stopped and I was told by my midwife that its probably because baby has moved position (there is still a heartbeat though) and that because its so small and changes positions so much they dont worry about routine until 26 weeks. That might be a good explaination. Baby has just started kicking me alot on the right hand side in my ribs which hadn't been happening before so that could be because baby has moved positions?

I dont remember Hannah having a routine inside. She was basically asleep when I was moving around, and awake while I was resting. then nonstop kicking near the end when she had no room left! ------------- Aimee Hannah 22/10/05 Greer 11/02/08 |

| I notice that there are kicks at certain times of day aswell but she is yet to move with the feet up or vice versa shes still lying across my belly kicking me on one side lol |

I've had non-stop kicks and punches from lunch time and she's just starting to slow down now. I'm getting lots and lots of that butterflies feeling today that I've never experienced before. She just jumped straight into kicks with me!
Good point about positions. I was getting kicks on my right hand side, which moved to just under my belly button after a few weeks, and today I've had kicks right down low on the left and shes back now to the centre/right. Very active!! aimeejoy, I've read that we 'rock' them to sleep when we're active ourselves, hence the feeling them move when we're still. Murphys Law isn't it?!

I'm due in 12 days and my little troublemaker still hasn't settled into a routine. Until I was 30 weeks, I'd go some days without feeling him move at all, and some days he'd be going nuts in there. If you have an anterior placenta (at the front) you might not notice the kicks as much until you're a bit further along, too. -------------

Hah! My midwife last told me that my bubs would start having a "routine" from around 28 weeks....My due date came & went & still no routine! So this time I'm not holding my breath for it to happen either. He kicks & elbows me wether I'm up working, milking the cows, resting on the couch or lying in bed. No difference just party central in my tummy  My current midwife wants to know what my boy is on so she can have some

I never noticed that info in my preggy book? I must have missed it, or im just blind! haha But I did read the bit about baby starting a regular schedule of sleeping, turning, sucking and kicking at week 20. But as we all know, all babies are different and there is no way we could know for sure right? The rocking thing totally makes sense when ever I am just sitting at my desk/dinner/couch baby just kicks away, except for when I am going to bed.... Bubs must know mummy is getting some sleep so baby goes to sleep too. What a wee little angel... for now? (hehe)

Thats freaky, my bubs would move at those four hourly intervals as well 11am,3pm,7pm and so on but the past 2 weeks bubs has been moving like crazy only days to go now YAY

haha Baalamb, always thinking outside the sqaure... but a good point made! I can't wait to finish up at work.
Oh, and the other day my darling 'hubby to be' asks me, "So, what will you be doing when you're at home all day after having baby?"..... Excuse me!? "Oh just looking after our new born when he/she wakes up every two hours for a feed, cleaning, washing, cooking, walking our daughter to school and picking her up.... my list goes on!" | hahah Paws, I've got a friend due back from overseas when bubs is about a month old, and she has all these wonderful plans about coming over and watching day time tv and eating lots of junk! Well, I can imagine her doing that while I run around, wash pooey clothes, feed, and comfort the baby! Oh and don't forget, organising tea for the hubby (if he's lucky hehe). I think she thinks the baby will sleep all day and not make a peep! |

when u get to round the lst few weeks take note of night time activity as that is a indication of how baby will be when he/she is born.Harmony wsa always active just when i was heading to bed at around 10pm and lo and behold shed be awake for a couple of hours at that time when she was born ------------- BECS http://www.sparklee.com">

haha - im sure we might get some time out when bubs is sleeping if we can keep on top of the house work....
my sister in law is due to give birth a month before me so we have planned to have a day that she comes over each week/two weeks to look after the babys together and get some adult company for the day. I was really spoilt with Kobe because by the time he came home the nicu had him in a 4 hourly routine and I had to wake him to feed him. I think im going to struggle this time if baby comes home straight away with no routine in place.
Good idea about having your sister in law come over wendz, my friend lived down the road and her wee girl is 2 weeks younger than Kobe so we used to walk to each others house just about every second day and hang out together which made it much more bearable. ------------- KOBE born 19 March 2004 http://www.TickerFactory.com/">
