Rhiannon decided at 11pm last night to start throwing up, and then decided every 45mins from there would be good, by the 3rd time she had emptied her stomach so has spent the rest of the night dry retching and crying, having trouble getting water into her, but am keeping an eye on that.

We have gone through every towel, sheet and flannel in the house plus most of her singlets and pjs, thankfully its going to be fine today, so will be able to get it all washed.

Poor kent is shattered and has just gone to work and as for me, i think im going to function like a zombie all day.

Now to just get some liquid and a little bit of toast into Rhiannon...

we are wondering if she maybe had a touch of food poisoning...she is a bit better this morning as in her cheeks have a little bit of colour in them, or is it that she is just so pale that any colour looks good...i cant get her to eat anything, which is fine, but i need her to drink and she doesnt want to...she is just lying on the floor at the moment...

Once i have all the washing down i will settle down on the couch with her and have a kip for a couple of hours...we both need it.

Sounds exactly like what Caitlin had last month - got to the stage where I was waiting for her head to spin round
Caitlin went right off her food and wouldn't drink water either (very unlike her) so I got some toddler gold formular just to make sure she was getting what she was missing out on from not eating.

If it is the same bug, the good news is that it is a short lived one and she should be feeling better soon.

Hugs to you both

not sure what to do, cant get her to eat, or drink, and i defintley know not to give her any milk (not that she would drink it).

How do i know when to take her to the doctors?, she is very quiet, and just lying there, about to go back to sleep...last time my baby was sick she ended up in hopsital with a nasal gastric tube in and im almost in tears thinking that this might happen again (which is why im not giving her milk, cos she had a gastro bug and the milk/formula pushed her over the edge and she became lactose intolerant for a while).

I will just keep an eye on here, and if need be will get my dad to come and get me to take me to the doctors as i ahve no car (oh and she hasnt had a wet nappy since 7pm last night)

have you tried to syringe water into her?
we had to do that with charli when she got the bug last year. the nurse had to hold her down to get the first couple into her, but after she got the taste and realised she was thirsty she took 100ml easy.

for you all!

Big 's to both of you this morning. Our whole household went through this last week starting with Sam. It has taken a week for her to really come right and she lost a ton of weight in that time!

Ice blocks are handy for kiddos who don't want to drink. I made my own with diluted juice and water and I think you can get sugar-free ones at the supermarket too.
They're good cos they get the liquid so slowly in small amounts that is doesn't upset the tummy as much.
Hope she's feeling brighter soon Kaz!

Have you tried that Gastrolite stuff?? It's supposed to be very good for rehydration purposes.

Hugs Kazzle! We had the same bug last week too by the sounds of it, I feel your laundry pain! I ended up using the clean sheets I'd put away for the new baby after we ran out of towels and cot linen. And like Rhiannon, the last time these ferals got a tummy bug they had a week in Starship with NG tubes so I can understand your worry!

Hope the doc is able to help. Jack_and_Charli is right, syringing is the best way to rehydrate them, and the first thing they will do if Rhiannon ends up in hospital again (fingers crossed she won't!). Pedialyte is better than water for rehydration purposes and the ratio is 5ml per minute.

More hugs! And if it makes you feel any better, I had two of them doing it at the same time and I survived. All I could do was laugh otherwise I would have gone mental!

well took her to the doctor and what cha know, little madam perked up...they wanted to send her to teh hospital and i asked what they were going to do, and was told monitor her for a couple of hours then probably send her home, so i opted to come straight home.

she was given some gastrolyte stuff but wont touch it but has drunk a bottle of water, eaten a piece of toast, a banana and a lemonade ice block and kept it all down so for..and is now asleep again.

So fingers crossed that its over

i think i spoke too soon, not long after i posted, she woke up and threw up everywhere, she walked down the hallway throwing up....i tell yah banana is hard to get out of the carpet...she is asleep again on our bed, so hopefully she wont wake up and throw up....

On the plus side, the weather has turned out great, so all my sheets etc should be dry, and if i hang out the last load that should all dry by 6pm as well

Myzone sports water is good, that's what they give you in hospital when you have hyperemesis.

Thanks guys, well i brought her some powerade, some mizone, some lemonade and she refused it all...she had a lemonade iceblock and some water....50mins later (just after a bath) threw up, mainly the water...we cleaned her up, she went to sleep about 7.30pm....woke up at 11pm to come into our bed, again at 4am for a drink, again at 7am for a drink (has drunk 700mls water overnight) hasnt thrown up at all and is still asleep and has colour to her cheeks...so i think the worst is over.

So its almost 8am, Kent is asleep and Rhi is asleep and im on here...hmmm what does that tell yah...lol
