I am shaking with rage and have to vent!

I was waiting on Botany Road this morning, in a right-turning lane, with my blinker on, to turn right across two lanes of traffic into my neighbourhood. A van pulled up behind me while I was waiting. Now, it can sometimes take five minutes for there to be a wide enough gap in the traffic for anyone to turn safely, as the road is so busy.

Anyway, I was about to turn when I happened to see, out of the corner of my eye, the van from behind me zoom around my right side (into the oncoming traffic lane) and turn right across the traffic.

I was furious. If I hadn't seen him, I'd have plowed straight into him, or he'd have T-boned me. So after I had turned (safely!), I drove along the road and saw him pulled over up ahead. The American in me took over, and I pulled in behind him, hopped out of the car, and gave him a what-for.

Let's just say he basically ignored me until I raised my voice ("Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?"), then was less than polite, said I was too slow at turning (good rationale there, mate) and suggested I need to read the Road Code as apparently I'm "not supposed to leave that long a gap between the other cars before turning." Um, hello, I know how long it takes me to get across the traffic, so I know how long a gap I need in order to make it without being HIT. Then he hopped back into his van and zoomed away like nothing had happened. So I took his license plate number and filed a Community Roadwatch report online the minute I got home.

I know all he'll get is a notice in the post that a complaint has been made. But GRRRR, that has made me so angry! What a jerk!

Okay, rant over. Back to work.

As a cautious learner driver I totally feel your rage!
I can't believe some of the risks people will take just because they think I'm taking too long for their liking.
Why, why, WHY would you endanger yourself and all the other innocent people on the road just so that you can save a few seconds?! It is so not worth it!
Good on you for giving him an earful, maybe it didn't seem to affect him but I'm damn sure he knows he was in the wrong and hopefully getting a notice about it will help him think twice next time.

I get so angry at the idiots that are allowed behind the wheel too. Good tip about the community roadwatch report - there's been several times I've wanted to report people but had no idea how too.

I didn't know that something like that existed! I know what you mean about the drivers. I've had van drivers etc driving up the back of me even though I have a Baby on Board sticker clearly visible!!

Although I do have to say, whilst walking with the pram I'm surprised at the boy racers. Coming up to a junction one day i saw this car, a boy racer type car with a youngish driver and I thought he would just speed by as there was no other traffic, well, he let me cross and gave me a wave! I was shocked!

So not everyone is bad!!

I can tell you why they would endanger themselves and others! Because 80% of people in this country share a quarter of a brain between them.

I had a guy sitting up my date today as I was driving along with my wee boy and my Mum in the car. He was in a big flash Audi, so obviously thought he could do what he liked. I tend to stick to the left hand side of the road as the road code states you are meant to do, but this guy decided that, despite the fact that I had not indicated, that I was pulling over, so he overtook me and just about made me drive up onto the footpath. Good one mate!!!

Grrrrr! If everyone had to take an IQ test to get their licence, there would be alot less of this, and fewer deaths!

Ok, rant over, and sorry for the threadjacking!
