Ok, so its Easter and I dont want to bother my MW and the docs are closed so I am self diagnosing with the help of my mate google!
I think I had spotting....but actually only when I wiped and it was kinda pinky/orangey mucuousy. I did have one pinky brown smudge but otherwise it is mainly when I wipe.
I had a REALLY upset tum last night...gassy, diarhoea and crampy but crampy in the tummy and bowel (i'm pretty sure)
Now I have a dull ache in my lower abdomen....kinda like your bladder feels when you have held on for too long. And I am peeing heaps but not peeing much (but I am PG). No pain whilst peeing.
But....I'm wondering if the blood may be coming from my urine and that I may have a UTI which would be why my bladder area hurts and my lower back at the sides. But can you get it without the burning stinging when you pee as I definately dont have that. Nor do I have that feeling of not quite emptying.
I have put on a panty liner and not getting blood on that so to speak but almost like a water mark (TMI) which is why I wonder if it is getting diluted.
Of course, the pain could still be bowel pain. It doesnt feel like period pain so I think the paranoia is subsiding a little.
What do the Ohbaby medicals think? I am thinking of ringing my MW on Tuesday if it hasnt got better and asking for a test for UTI and also for a dating scan as I have had 3 instances of bleeding/spotting since my last AF. But I am wondering if I should be going to A/Hs if it is a UTI? But A/Hs is about 50km away.

& if ur still in pain 2moro, give ur m/w a call, thats wot they r ther 4!
Gud luck, hope u feel better soon

I had a UTI with Spencer, at about 20 weeks though, I had no stinging or feeling that I needed to go all the time (except normal pg needing to go all the time feeling). The first clue I had was a strange cramping twinge, mw did test and I had a UTI, by the time the test came back the pain had moved to my back because the infection had spread to my kidneys. Having relaxin in the body causes an increased risk of UTI and it also stops the normal symptoms of stinging etc, which is why they like to keep an eye on whether you have them or not. It is poss that the blood could be coming from your bladder, could you pee in a pot and have a look?
It is quite safe to take ural which supermarkets normally sell. (check other brands though as some are not ok when pregnant).
Also ringing your mw at 4.30pm on a saturday isn't that bad and might be a good idea. She may want to prescribe some antibiotics.

Just phoned the local med centre and their message says there is a drop in clinic Tomorrow morning so I will go down then.
Just went to loo and no blood on liner but def when wiped. and pain in back has got worse. I guess I will drink heaps of water (I'm bad at that as our water is gross) and take ural and panadol if I get a temp and we will see in the morning.

Well I rang healthline and they said I should go to Docs tonight so I called the duty Doc and she came down to meet me at the clinic. Def blood in urine but not sure on infection. So had discussion about pros and cons of Abs and she decided we should wait and see. But just before I left she took my temp and we were both shocked to find it was 38.2! So that changed everything and I am now on Abs and had to get the pharmacist in as well. All in all, I am pretty impressedwith our towns health services. and the cost? $50 for doc and $3 for meds. Not bad!

Is there any point in bothering her though? If it is a MC you cant stop it and if it isnt then there is nothing to worry about right now.

Would it give you peace of mind to talk to her? If so, I say call her but if you think that you'll cope OK whatever happens over the next day or so then don't. I'd probably call if it were me coz I'm a stresser lol.
Best of luck, am thinking of you and hoping it all works out. The abs are definitely a good idea if you have a temp coz they will kee infection at bay whatever the source of the infection.

I rang the GP again. She is so lovely. She will see me tomorrow but I am to ring her tonight at anytime if a) I am worried or b) I bleed with severe pain (ectopic I guess) .
Just been reading old posts and read about Jennz bleeds and feel more optimistic!
Dont really have pain other than mildly gassy feeling.

thanks guys. I am going to see GP tomorrow (unless things change dramatically overnight in which case she has told me to ring her). Who knows, it might be ok. Its not brown but not bright either. kind of like pinkish tinged CM...but that might change.
I'm a bit bummed but trying to stay positive. Afterall if I hadnt done an HPT I would have just thought this was my AF starting and I wouldnt be bothered at all.
Its still just a dull ache and whilst I am still getting it when I wipe its not really getting worse on the pad.
I'm kinda hoping this is all a bad dream.

Thanks guys. Just a bummer for it to happen over Easter when everything is closed. I dont know if I will get all my answers fora while now. But we will see what Doc says. Cramps are bad enough to take panadol now (but not bad enough to HAVE to- but I have) and its a little clotty. It seriously feels like the whole BFP and HCGs were wrong as this was EXACTLY when AF was due
|

Do you have a really long cycle? Cos you got the BFP a while ago didn't you?
When do you see the doc?
-------------

|

I have no idea of my cycles cuppatea, I've only had one real AF. That was 20 Jan and then 30 days later I had that spotting around the time you had your BFP but no AF. At that time I must have counted forward when I thought AF would come next even though it didnt come then. Voila...here we are so who knows WTF is going on.
But I do feel ok about it all. Going to see Doc at 11. What happens from here?

She will probably want to do bloods on Tuesday, not sure if anywhere would be open to do them today, or she may want to send you for an emergency scan, or again might want to do that on Tuesday.
As I had had a scan 2 days before my m/c the doc just kept an eye on me, phoned to make sure bleeding was ok and gave me instructions on what to do if things went wrong (i.e haemorraging (sp?) and I was still at risk of ectopic). I haven't had any follow up bloods because my m/c was text book there wasn't any need. Also I lost all preggy symptoms a few days after the bleeding stopped which is a good sign that everything had come away.
Good luck at the docs and if you need anything just PM me, i'm not that far away.

Thanks cuppatea! I just really dont know what to expect and that bugs me more than anything. I hate not knowing things. I have been re-reading other posts and people talk about "beginning to miscarry" as being different to bleeding.....whats the difference? I would be suprised if this isnt a MC (and bloody pissed off at bubs if thats the case) but is something different going to happen?

It sounds similar to whats happening to me except I havent had any cramps.
But I also think you would have been further along than me, so hopefully that will mean a good thing!
I do hope that its just one of those unexplained bleeding times that happens and you go on to have a successful pregnancy!

Ok I will explain how mine happened and that might help.
Had a scan on the Tuesday which showed that baby was only measuring 4 weeks, should have been 6. Felt fine though so doc wanted me to wait until the end of the following week to have another scan. Was still talk of ectopic and DNC etc at that time.
On the Wednesday I went to meet my friend for a coffee and dog walk and felt strange, not really crampy but something going on a bit achy I suppose (ignored it as I was ignoring anything to do with the pregnancy) I also kept feeling hot and like I was going to faint, that feeling stayed with me all day, and i ignored it all day. At about 11pm after going to loo before going to bed I had brown mucous when I wiped and thought oh well thank god this is finally over, I put a pad on and went to bed, got up the next day and nothing on the pad but was still brown when I wiped, within 15 mins of being up I started bleeding properly, then got really bad cramps.
I was pretty sure with the feelings I had on the wednesday that I was starting to m/c. I suppose the bleeding didn't just start randomly and the feelings were different to those when you get AF but were a clear indication that something was wrong.
For you it might be hard to tell because you have had the UTI and tummy bug at the same time.
-------------

|
Posted By: peanut butter
Date Posted: 23 March 2008 at 10:15am
the UTI? Not sure now as alot of that was based on the thought that the blood was coming from there. and tummy bug....well I wonder if that was my ulcerative colitis having a little go. All my symptoms of that disappeared the moment I got pregnant sofor them to come back kinda adds weight to the whole MC arguement.

Depending on how high the HCG level is you could still get a BFP even days after a m/c.
-------------

|

I got a bfp while I was m/c, actually was the day before I fully m/c. So taking a hpt wont give you an answer, like you said would just confuse you more. Did for me, cos I thought "how come I m/c when the test said I was preg?"

Yip i just couldnt remember how long her symptoms had been going for though.
I guess thats what makes me think to that I had chemical preg in dec and now, and one day it was positive, next day its neg and bleeding starts.

Very true, if I took a test right now I'd still get a positive because my levels are defintely still high enough to get a positive easily even though I've had my miscarriage.
Good luck Nikki!! I hope you get some answers promptly. When they thought I was miscarrying (they didn't know about it being ectopic at this stage) I was sent for a scan. After that I was sent for bloods to confirm what was going on.

I just wanted to say a few years ago I spent a few days in hospital with a really bad UTI, it took them ages to figure out what it was because the pain felt really crampy like that and they keep asking if there was a chance I was pg (I was 13 so not likely lol) So they paincould quite possibly just be from your UTI

Aww Nikki, I've just read this thread, I hadn't seen it before! That is so sad
Yeah don't do an HPT... I did one last Sat (a week and a half after the miscarriage started) and it was still positive, so of course it gave me stupid feelings like "maybe it's just a false alarm and I am still pregnant" (even tho I had HEAVY bleeding with blood clots, and a scan had showed the embryo hadn't developed past 5 weeks when I was meant to be 8 weeks, and that my blood tests showed my hormone levels had gone from 2000 to 1000 in two days!)
But I just did another HPT about an hour ago and it was negative so the hormones have all gone 2 and a half weeks after the m/c.
There really have been a lot of miscarriages on here lately, as you pointed out a wee while ago. So we are all due for happy healthy babies in the near future!
Good you're keeping a positive attitude, it's the only thing you can do really, otherwise you'll drive yourself insane! If you need to talk I'm here

REally meow??????
What was it like. I am so confused as all the descriptions of MC dont quite sound like what I am getting. I have heard that it is normally like a heavy period and the cramps are stronger. And that you pass "tissue". Well I have just had moderate bleeding, mild cramps for about the first 6 hours and then none. So right now apart from feeling "dripping" I wouldnt know anything was going on. I also read that you would probably soak through a pad an hour but I would say I go through 2-3 a day (mainly coz I think I should change).
It is so frustrating as I am sure it cant be good bleeding.
I think I am clutching at straws in hope that I will be the rare case where it is all ok.
