I noticed this morning that Alyssa felt hotter than usual (around 37.5), but other than that she was happy so I just gave a little Pamol and left her with nana when I went to work.
When I got home to pick her up she was really hot (about 38.4), still happy and apparently eating normally. So gave Pamol again but 40 minutes later she felt hotter so I took her to the doc and by then she was 38.9 but STILL happy as Larry!
Doc said it's just a fever and there is plenty of it going around, just keep an eye on the temp and give Pamol + Ibuprofen.
So she's in bed now, totally out to it, and temp is normal... It's just so strange to me that she is acting totally happy with no other symptoms apart from being quite tired. Is this something that happens with Toddlers, and has anyone else's kiddies had this recently? I just hope it doesn't progress...

Ella had that for 3 days, up and down, up and down, happy as larry. Went to the Dr 3 times, urine tests, checked her ears, checked her poos, felt her tummy, looked up her nose, down her throat. NADA. Diagnosis: Its a virus, lots of rest and fluids.
Finally decided to show itself as 2 very infected ears on day 4
Hope wee Alyssa is better really quickly!

Kate had this and for her it was a urine infection- took 2 courses of hard core anti-bs to get her well again. Did you have to get a urine sample?

Yep and they are the bane of my existence! Coz of Sienna's kidney prob every time she gets a random fever she has to go to Starship to get a catheter urine done, it's a PITA!
But not once has it been an actual infection (which means her drugs are working) so it's just a random fever.

Well last night Alyssa slept from 7pm through to 12pm ok, then was up every 1 1/2-2 hours from that point still with very high temp. This morning she seems her normal self with high temp again (about due for another dose)..but I'm worried that the doc said to keep doing this for the next few days cause it seems her temp is only normal when she has the medicine in her system..

Ibuprofen is great for pulling those fevers right down eh?
Its scary when it wears off and it shoots back up and they crash again though.
Sorry to hear she's no better Pepsi!
How high is it getting to when the meds wear off?
Did they check her urine and her ears at the Doc?

Yeah it works great! Her temp gets to around 38.5 + when she has nothing in her system and doc had said to take her to the hospital if it's 40..
He checked her ears and throat and all was ok but didn't ask to check anything else. Just said if it's still happening in a few days then take her back and they can prescribe antibiotics then. He thought Pamol and Ibuprofen would be better for now.

Hugs to poor wee Alyssa! Hope the fever breaks soon!
My mum always told me that if the fever goes down with pamol/ibuprofen it's viral, if it doesn't go down it's bacterial so fingers crossed this is just some weird viral temp and will break soon.

My Alyssa had this about the 10th-12th March I took her to the Doc twice and she has nothing really wrong with her. She was happy in herself as well Now that the temps are all normal again she has this annoying cough which sounds awful and she looks all red then reaches and again I took her back to the doctor and again he said she's ok no infections so if she's happy and playing to just carry on. Very strange. Maybe it's some virus going around.

I hate to self-diagnose but Alyssa has had this fever for about 3 days now, and today I notice a number of little spots appearing on her body. Don't think it's chickenpox or anything like that but found a description for something that sounds so much like what she has! What do you think?
The first few days of roseola will seem like nothing worse than a mild virus. Your baby may have a fever of 101-105 degrees F / 38.3-42.2 degrees C, but otherwise seem fine. For the next three days or so, the fever will hover around that temperature, and your child may show more symptoms of illness - a runny nose, mild diarrhoea, or decreased appetite. Once the fever subsides, she may have a pinkish-red, spotty rash on her trunk - the telltale sign of roseola.

Hmmm. Could be. Elle's had a fever too (first one she's had) and a slightly runny nose but no other symptoms. Last night I noticed tiny red dots under the skin around low down on her tummy / upper legs but thought it nappy related.
Maybe something is going around.

Alyssa has definitely had the decreased appetite and diarrhoea since yesterday and fever isn't as bad now so it seems to have progressed to the spotty stage.
When I do a google image search, hers looks a little like this childs case.. Not heaps of spots, just a small amount..

We don't have those spots.
As far as I know spots are very common as a virus clears the body. I'd say Alyssa will come right now.

That looks exactly like what Ella had when she had roseola Pepsi! I'd completely forgotten she'd had it until I saw the photo, lol!
She got heaps better after the rash came out, hopefully it will be the same for Alyssa.
